In a recent comparison of graphics cards, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super has been evaluated against its counterparts, including the RTX 4080, ahead of its release on January 24, priced at $799. Preliminary benchmarks, although not conducted under uniform conditions and thus speculative, suggest interesting performance dynamics. In OpenCL benchmarks, the RTX 4080 shows a marginal 5% performance advantage over the RTX 4070 Ti Super. Conversely, in Vulkan benchmarks, the RTX 4070 Ti Super appears to surpass the RTX 4080 by 7%.

Further comparisons were drawn with the previous generation RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 2070 Super, indicating a potential 10-15% performance increase for the RTX 4070 Ti Super over the RTX 4070 Ti and a 5-10% lag behind the RTX 4080. It's important to note that these early tests from Geekbench 6's database, while informative, do not necessarily reflect real-world gaming performance. The RTX 4070 Ti Super scored 229,043 in OpenCL and 222,435 in Vulkan, showing notable improvements over the RTX 4070 Ti.

In comparison to AMD's offerings, the RTX 4070 Ti Super exhibited up to a 13% increase in OpenCL performance over the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, though the difference in Vulkan performance was minimal, with the Radeon model slightly outperforming the Nvidia card. These early results are based on a limited number of test runs and may be influenced by driver variations.

Nvidia's strategy with the RTX 4070 Ti Super appears to be aimed at competing with AMD's RX 7900 series. The company plans to phase out the standard RTX 4070 Ti in favor of the Super variant. In response, AMD has introduced promotional pricing for some of its Radeon RX 7900 series models, though without officially reducing the MSRP.

AMD's pricing adjustments have brought the Radeon RX 7900 XT to $749 and the Radeon RX 7900 GRE to $549, down from their original launch prices. Notably, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, AMD's flagship model, is not part of this promotional pricing.

While real-world performance benchmarks for the RTX 4070 Ti Super are pending, it is speculated that this Ada Lovelace-based card may not match the RX 7900 XTX in rasterization. However, it is expected to significantly narrow the gap with the RX 7900 XT, possibly reaching parity due to its enhanced capabilities.
