An analysis conducted by a tech enthusiast from China, using the CPU-Z benchmark, showcased the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3's performance capabilities. In the single-threaded benchmark, which leverages one of the chip's four Arm Cortex-X1C P-cores, it achieved a score of 543.7 points. This score is on par with that of AMD's "Zen 2" and Intel's "Comet Lake" x86-64 cores. In the multi-threaded benchmark, which utilizes all available P-cores and Cortex-A78C E-cores, the SoC scored 3479.7 points, aligning it with the performance of entry-level to mainstream x86-64 processors from AMD and Intel.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is a sophisticated Arm System-on-Chip (SoC) designed for integration into lightweight notebooks and Chromebooks, particularly those running Windows 11. This SoC is positioned to compete with the performance levels of the Apple M3, with Microsoft highlighting its efficacy in combining competitive performance metrics with enhanced battery efficiency, a feature that is also characteristic of the M3 MacBooks.

With the evolution from Windows RT to the latest Windows 11 for Arm, there has been a notable improvement in PC application compatibility, facilitated by Microsoft's development of official translation layers. In this context, CPUID has launched an Arm64 variant of the CPU-Z utility, which is adept at detailed identification of the Snapdragon 8cx specifications and includes a benchmarking feature for assessing single- and multi-threaded CPU performance.

Remarkably, despite its 7W power consumption, which can drop below 2W in idle states, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 can deliver these performance levels with passive cooling. This is in contrast to 35W x86 processors that typically require active cooling solutions to maintain operational efficiency.
