The news has emerged that NVIDIA has decided to discontinue the GeForce RTX 3050 8GB, which utilized the Ampere architecture. This graphics card, introduced by NVIDIA in January 2020, was built around a GPU bearing the codename GA106-150. Upon its launch, it carried a recommended price tag of $249, with a Total Graphics Power (TGP) rating of 130W.  Looking ahead, the GeForce RTX 3050 8GB is set to make way for the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB. The GeForce RTX 3050 6GB boasts a significantly lower TGP of 75W and adopts a plug-in-free design, utilizing a PCIe 8-PIN power connector.

The anticipated release window for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB is January 2024. However, it's important to note that the price of the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB may fall within the range of $179 to $189. This pricing strategy has led to speculation that NVIDIA intends to bridge the gap between the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB and the GeForce RTX 4060 8GB, possibly introducing a new GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card to cater to a wider spectrum of consumer budgets and preferences.
