Modders Adapt AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation into DLSS 3 Supported Games

Modders have taken advantage of AMD's release of the FSR 3 source code to develop generalized FSR 3 Frame Generation mods. These mods are designed to seamlessly integrate into games that already support DLSS 3 Frame Generation. One notable mod, created by Nukem9 on GitHub, replaces a game's existing DLSS file with AMD's FSR 3 equivalent, effectively substituting DLSS 3 with FSR 3. While there have been previous game-specific FSR 3 mods for titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last of Us Part I, mods like the one introduced by Nukem9 hold significant promise, as they can be applied to any game with built-in DLSS 3 support.

These newly developed FSR 3 mods are set to extend the reach of AMD's frame generation technology to numerous games that do not inherently support FSR 3. This development echoes the achievements of DLSS modders from a few months ago, who successfully incorporated DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation into titles originally compatible with AMD FSR 2, effectively expanding the utilization of DLSS on a broader scale.

The extensive phase of DLSS modding has led to speculations that it directly influenced game developers to incorporate DLSS into more titles. Alternatively, it suggests that game developers are becoming more open to including support for multiple upscaling options. While DLSS is currently more dominant than FSR, as well as Intel's XeSS equivalent, games that natively support all three upscaling options remain relatively limited. Considering that DLSS mods have notably boosted the adoption of Nvidia's upscaling technology, modders now have a similar opportunity to promote the usage of FSR 3. Moreover, FSR 3 is compatible with any GPU, not exclusively limited to AMD's chips, making it accessible to a broader audience.
