Intel's upcoming Battlemage architecture for graphics processing units (GPUs) is set to support the DisplayPort 2.1 specification, despite earlier plans to include the UHBR 20 standard. Recent updates indicate that Battlemage will adhere to the UHBR 13.5 specification, aligning with the current capabilities of the DisplayPort 2.0 standard. The information regarding the removal of UHBR 20 from the Battlemage architecture was first reported by the Phoronix website, based on details found in a patch document. This change implies that while the Battlemage architecture was initially expected to support higher bandwidth capabilities, it will instead maintain a bandwidth level consistent with DisplayPort 2.0 specifications.

Additionally, it is expected that Intel will implement HDMI 2.1 support in its upcoming discrete GPUs under the Battlemage architecture. This move follows the previous generation's Alchemist architecture, which only supported HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, lacking support for 10-bit color depth. While AMD's Radeon RX 7000 series, part of the Navi 30 line, already supports DisplayPort 2.1 under the same UHBR 13.5 specification, there has been some confusion about the actual capabilities associated with these standards. Despite this, both Intel's Battlemage and AMD's offerings are aligned in terms of DisplayPort specification compliance.

The launch timeline for Intel’s new GPU architecture is projected for the fourth quarter, following its anticipated introduction alongside the Lunar Lake processors. However, detailed information about the capabilities and exact specifications of the Battlemage GPUs remains limited at this stage.
