In October, IKEA will offer a side table with an integrated smart air purifier. The gadget, unveiled the furniture company on Monday, can be controlled via an app.

The STARKVIND air purifier features a five-speed fan and an auto mode. A built-in sensor detects the air quality and automatically changes the fan speed in the automated mode. Additionally, users may control the fan speed using the IKEA Home smart app.

According to IKEA, the air purifier can remove around 99.5 percent of the air's tiny particles. Three filters are included with the gadget. The first filter collects hair and dust, while the second filter is ideal for fine dust and pollen removal. The third filter collects gases and pungent smells, such as those produced by cooking.

The gadget is suited for rooms with a maximum square footage of 20 square meters. In addition to the air purifier integrated into a side table, IKEA also sells an air purifier that is not integrated into a side table. The table variant is priced at 149 euros, while the standalone air purifier is priced at 99 euros.
