The latest update for Diablo IV introduces ray tracing capabilities, significantly enhancing the game's visual atmosphere through advanced lighting and shadow effects. This update accompanies the inclusion of DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) 3 technology, which optimizes frame rates and image quality. Diablo IV, which had previously incorporated DLSS 3 for performance enhancement, now benefits from added ray-traced reflections and shadows, elevating the gaming experience with more immersive and realistic environments.

The implementation of ray tracing introduces dynamic lighting effects, such as reflections in water and blood, and softer, more natural shadows in dimly lit areas, making the game's world more convincing and atmospheric.

Nvidia's benchmarks reveal significant performance improvements when DLSS technologies are applied, particularly in 4K resolution settings with ray tracing enabled. The RTX 4090 graphics card, for example, can achieve 144 frames per second (FPS), while the RTX 4080 Super reaches 117 FPS, and the performance scales down accordingly across the RTX 4070 series. These enhancements allow for smoother gameplay without compromising on visual quality, although specific performance metrics without frame generation have not been disclosed.Alongside Diablo IV, games such as Outpost: Infinity Siege, Alone In The Dark, and Lightyear Frontier have also integrated Nvidia's DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 technologies, improving performance and visual fidelity.
