Just out of curiosity, have they fully released the game yet, or is it still a micro-transaction phone-like game?

I think it's nothing like Immortal which was crap. It's a decent game but it also has a lot of flaws.

Good to know to avoid it for now!

I personally think it's worth playing just for the story which is good and the game technically works just fine. People rather seem to have problems with endgame and general decisions regarding items and endgame. I've not played it that much so I won't be the judge of that.

Meh the story was lacklustre at best and the gameplay was tedious. I did not really enjoy it, but I still managed to just barely finish it. My friend was like "you gotta just finish it and get to the endgame! we'll play together!" and then when I finished it I just didn't want to ever play it again.

I've played a ton of Diablo II... but Diablo III was so bad that I just assumed that Diablo IV would also be trash. It seems that it's not worth it so... I'll play other games (currently playing Skyrim 😀 )

This is basically the Starfield of hack & slay genre.

Like most of the other game devs (same as the movie industry or even the biggest corporations from every field) - Blizzard is still milking the Diablo "brand" . Point being... Diablo: Hellfire, but even more than that Diablo II (+ the Expansion) - "at that/their time" were the creme de la creme among the RPG genre (as a whole - not just hack & slash). And cause of that success (and the huge fan base) - they made Diablo III and more recently Diablo IV. The thing is... "that's the only reason this game were made". I mean, both Diablo Hellfire and Diablo II were soul projects for the old dev team from Blizzard North. They really put their soul into making a game they would love playing. Same can't be said about Diablo III and Diablo IV - which were made only because there was a huge fan-base looking forward for a sequel - to one of their favorite games. That being said, expectation were bound to be failed - for those who were hoping to relieve the experience and the fun they had playing Diablo 1/2 - while playing sequels which are the equivalent of a filler (a product released for the sake of being consumed - lacking the substance of its predecessors). Cinematic wise, sure... Blizzard still did a good job - but those are minutes long cut scenes (close to a hour put together), far from being enough - to compensate for the state of the game - as a whole. Another thing is, they made promises among promises - even baited Diablo fans with early gameplay - which was suppose to be a very a small part of the huge content that was about to follow upon release. Yet, failed to deliver (mostly just hype). And the fan-base did give DIablo 4 a fair chance - complains piling up after spending quite some time and achieving top tier levels. Diablo 4 is simply lacking in terms of content, lacking in terms of features, lacking in terms of game-play, lacking in terms of fun... Even Diablo 2 is a grind fest - but that was done right: new content at every corner, while the character skills/development and items variety - used to work really well with the game evolution/advancement (while climbing in level and exploring new territories). Again, was also a different time - when a game like Diablo 2 actually shinned in every way - which proved to be the perfect recipe for lots of lots of fun. Impossible to relive playing Diablo IV - which is mostly a bore fest. Seriously, Diablo 4 players even moved to a 3rd rate title (production/costs wise) - like Last Epoch which had a production budget of around $250k (while Diablo 4 production budget - was 100x, 200x or 300x higher?!). https://store.steampowered.com/app/899770/Last_Epoch/#app_reviews_hash This too is a pure grind fest - so you could say it's for the fans of the genre, yet - as can be seen among the steam reviews - quite a lot find it more enjoyable than Diablo 4. PS. Visuals are/were not the issue with Diablo IV - but this is typical Blizzard ideology: the house is falling apart from the inside-out and they're painting the fence - even added a new shinny metal door - somehow hoping this aesthetic change will manage to divert some of the negative attention.

The campaign and general gameplay is ok (some builds/characters are more fun than others), I enjoyed it. However the endgame is very bad for 2 main reasons: - there are nothing to do beside clearing the same dungeons again and again - grinding for items is not fun: need to look at thousands of yellow items to hope for proper affix because there are no filters, sets items are missing etc. This kind of game is repetitive by nature, but if the gameplay loop is fun, it's no issue. Here it's just boring after a few hours. I tried each seasons, they didn't fix any of the main issues. New content is a joke (1h of play), item hunt remains the same. Back on subject. The RT at max is very demanding. With my RTX 4090, I used to play in 1920p ultra wide and could maintain my 98fps cap without issue. With max RT, in order to get the same performances, I had to use DLSS balanced + frame gen on. The general image quality took a noticeable hit, and frame gen is annoying in this game because there are artifacts on UI elements such as item names on the ground. I also get annoying frame pacing issues, for instance after closing the map. By looking at the frametime graph, it looks like frame gen gets deactivated when opening the map then gets activated again when closing it, causing framerate fluctuations and stutters. I spent some time tweaking RT settings. I ended up with the following setup: RT shadows: medium (high tanks the fps like crazy, made for RTX 5090 haha) RT reflections: off (in my opinion they look very bad / wierd, also blurry) RT foliage: on RT particules: on With this settings I could disable frame gen and use DLSS quality which is an acceptable trade off. Fps are more variable, when nothing happens my GPU usage is 20% lower than before, but during fights with many mobs I have 20% more GPU usage.

D4 was biggest regret purchase of last year. Got soo bored. Tried to go back to it three times. At best it feels like an assembly line job. At it's worst it feels like a skinner box with a see through cage so you can watch the scientists laughing at you. Lol that boss dropped nothing of value, but this rat dropped legendary because algorithm detected lack of level 6 or greater brain reward for 9,382 clicks and 92 minutes. Have had way more fun with palworld and helldivers2. Pretty much just consider AAA gaming dead and ignore now.
