Crucial unveiled the Crucial T700 Gen 5 SSD family in the middle of the previous year, a flagship product in their Pro Series lineup, showcasing exceptional performance. Micron's consumer division highlighted the T700's technical capabilities with sequential read and write speeds of up to 12,400 MB/s and 11,800 MB/s, respectively. Now, in early 2024, history appears to be repeating itself with the revelation of the Crucial T705 and T705 Limited Edition models

Midway through the previous year, Crucial introduced its T700 Gen 5 SSD series as part of its new Pro Series lineup, highlighting its significant performance capabilities. This launch was preceded by a leak two months prior to its official release in May 2023. A similar pattern appears to be emerging in early 2024 with the discovery of the T705 and T705 Limited Edition models by hardware analyst momomo_us. The latter is distinguished by a unique white version of the "SSD5" corrugated passive heatsink design, differing from the "SSD3" model which lacks the more elaborate aluminum and nickel-plated copper heatsink.

A leaked specification sheet for the T705 model emerged on social media, indicating Crucial's ambition to set new performance benchmarks. The 2 TB T705 model leads with read and write speeds of 14,500 MB/s and 12,700 MB/s respectively, while the 4 TB version shows slightly lower speeds of 14,100 MB/s read and 12,400 MB/s write. The 1 TB variant displays read and write speeds of 13,600 MB/s and 10,200 MB/s respectively. The document did not specify details about the controller, DRAM cache, or endurance metrics. It remains to be seen whether the new models will continue using the Micron 232-layer TLC NAND and if the Phison E26 controller will be included.
