Product Showcase
The SSD can be opened up easily enough after which the PCB and its components become visible. Once you open it up, you see the backside of the PCB. And it has no components whatsoever.
When you take it out you'll notice marsh-mellows! well thermal padding. The outer casing is aluminum, so why now use that to your advantage as cooling block eh ? The controller and NAND ICs all have thermal pads applied. To the left you see the SATA 3 connector. This 6Gbps storage unit makes use of A15nm MLC NAND from Toshiba.
For this version which you are looking at 8 NAND flash memory ICs. The NAND FLASH partitions are arranged directly towards the proprietary in-house Toshiba controller. Toshiba did not share any info on this controller.
The SSD does not use a DRAM cache, however ... in the photo above just below the controller you can see SMT traces right ? Yup, that is intended for a DRAM cache alright. Apparently it ain't needed.
