Right, let's get the unboxing started. First off, packaging, so you know what to look for in the stores of course. Well, it can't be any clearer that we have the right box.
So, if you purchased the Shield Android TV 2017 before and update to the 2019 model, you'll be in for a surprise, as the non-Pro model now has a tubular 'pipe' design. It's intended to connect and tuck away out of sight. No LEDs or buttons needed. Included is an updated yet super handy remote you can use to navigate but also power on/off. Btw the Shield will power itself on or off when you select it's HDMI channel (CEC compatible).
Once we open the box we stumble into the Shield TV unit, the Shield is packaged with care. Once you take out the console unit and a few mini-manuals (I'm not joking they are mini) the power cable and this the remote control. That's it though, not even an HDMI cable is included.
It's difficult to photograph but the top and bottom sides are where the cables go. Just plug in HDMI (CEC compatible) and connect it to an HDMI compatible receiver or TV. Above it is a Micro SD slot for your extra storage needs.
The lower side if you allow me to call it like that holds a connector for power supply and ethernet. That's it really, designed to connect and tuck away.
