So! On to the important stuff, performance. Since the cooler comes with its own RPM selector, and that is what makes it silent, I measured the temp reading when in the lowest RPM setting, and on the fastest setting.

 

The tests were made using an AMD64 3200+ processor using the Venice core.

The room temperature was at 25c~26c with the help of the A/C unit. Automatic fan control was disabled in the BIOS, so the motherboard was giving full power to the fan.

 

Ive decided to have the RPMs around 2200 since it is a point of compromise. The idle temp at that setting is 39c. The performance is very good and the noise is low. When you have it at the lowest you can hardly hear it, especially if your case fans make noise. I left the PC running for an hour having the UD client working at 100% and on low, it went up to 45c. When on full blast, it went down to 42c~43c. (UD (United Devices) is a program that is similar to Seti at home only it does something more useful, it tries to help find a cure for cancer, and Guru3D has its own group). With the RPM selector at the lowest, the CPU went up to 45c.

 

The rest of the tests were CounterStrike Source, Company of Heroes (demo), and POVRay. (POVRay is a free to use offline rendering engines for creating scenes/images like the ones seen in game videos and movies. It uses ray tracing to provide the images and is taxing on calculation speed).

The test scene used with POVRay is the one called benchmark and was used at 1024*768 resolution, with AA set at 0.3. Dont fool yourself, this took a bit over 3 hours to finish

So here the maximum temperature difference between the lowest and the fastest RPM speed is just 1c.

Here the temperature difference is 2c, and this is where the CPU went up in temperature the most.
