Meet the Broadwell Core i7-5775C. Familiar looking alright, processor package size wise. The processor is an Intel engineering sample showing the code-name QJBG.

These processors are housed on the LGA 1150 socket package, an all too familiar CPU socket as it is the same one as say Z87 and Z97 uses. The good news is that your processor coolers will all fit perfectly on this CPU, the bad news is you'll need to purchase a compatible series 9 motherboard like Z97 for Haswell / Broadwell processors. We assume that Z87 will work fine with the new refresh processors as well but check that with your motherboard manufacturers first to see if there is a firmware update available. For the C model SKUs you do need a specific BIOS update even for Z97, again please check with your motherboard manufacturer if your board will be supported (or not).

For our review we will be pairing the Core i7-5775C processor with an ASUS Z97 motherboard. Intel does not manufacture reference motherboards anymore for the consumer market.
