Computex 2009 - Day 3

More Gigabyte kit is spotted at Computex, and here I spotted this PSU. Please understand that it still is a prototype that hopefully will make it to final design stages and thus the market. But this PSU has a built in UPS. So if there's a power failure, there's enough battery life to keep the PC alive for 2 minutes. In these two minutes the PSU can enforce a power-down within Windows. This way no data is lost or corrupted during a power grid failure.

I think that's a brilliant idea really. The trick though is to get the Wattage higher as this prototype I think was 400 Watt only. But really I love the idea here.

Here's the entire Odin range of power supplies. There will be some new models introduced, among them a new 1200 Watt series. Also the GT series is still alive and kicking with software control and monitoring of wattages. Cool stuff. If you like to learn more about that, check out the Odin GT review we did a while ago.

Computex 2009 - Day 3

An all new chassis from Gigabyte, this is the SUMO 4112. Looking at exterior - we spot brushed aluminum panel finishes, rooftop accessibility of I/O interfaces, an optical disc holder only fragments from the optical device bays and stabilizing feet. Interior clip, latch and turn are associated with momentum around the inside, large intake and dual exhausts fans manage the wind-tunnel airflow, pre-modifications for liquid cooling assembly and cable management attachments make this a wrap. The end-user price will be around 129 (incl vat).

To address the budget market, Gigabyte will Release the new Luxo M1004 series of chassis. With a nice black design and sporty grill this chassis meets the real budget segment. Comes with tool-less installation as well. And don't hold me to it, but I think it was something like 50 EUR. Not bad, looks pretty okay really.
