5 - OCZ Technology

OCZ Technology

The folks from OCZ within the last two years entered the European channel - Veni, vidi, vici. That's what's happening for OCZ in Europe right now. The company is growing huge fast and they consistently are expanding their product range with new products. Since its restructuring in 2002, OCZ Technology has moved away from its core offerings of RAM and power supplies into peripherals like its Equalizer gaming mouse and cooling components like the OCZ Hydrojet as well.

It's amazing to see, and even more amazing to have their products available as granted .. they do make top notch stuff. We review a lot for and from them mainly because their products rock. Let's have a look at a few of them.

You might have noticed it but a while ago OCZ acquired HyperSonic, well know for their high-end PCs and "Alienware" like notebooks and a well-established and respected brand name in the PC community. High specced little beasts .. that obviously are priced high as well. What can you expect from these little lappies ? Well in there you'll find for example a Core 2 Extreme 6800 processor, 2x NVIDIA 8800 GTX Go with 512MB video memory, Intel PM965 chipset + ICH8M. It doesn't stop there though, .. 4 GB DDR2-800 memory, 32-GB solid state drive, 1920x1200 WUXGA screens.

*sighs - wipes drool from mouth corners* yummie !

Though they are working on a less specced light-weighted 800 EUR version as well. Oy .. I'm being monitored, that wasn't part of the deal ! :)

Some other pretty snazzy products on display where the fastest DDR3 memories, I think I missed out on the photo yet 2100 MHz is already here, crazy. You'll see a lot of new EPP v2.0 design memory (enhanced performance profiles) allowing you to set the memory as fast yet stable as possible with a flick of your fingers.

Behold the future ... this is such cool gear. Seriously, I am attracted to Solid State Disk drive like a bitch in heat. Too expensive right now, but wait another 12-24 months and then let's see that pricing again. This is the future guys, no more moving parts in your HD, fast access timesĀ  and in case you did not notice it .. look at the stunning read/write speeds of 120 & 100 MB/sec respectively.

Next months SATA version is coming out, and guess what, we will review it. A 128 GB and I think even a 256GB version is already in the works as well.

It has been out a little while already yet we haven't tested it just yet. These are the new Reaper X series memory. Fantastic design heatspreader; look at that. This is the new DDR2 4 GB kit rated at 1000 MHz, but can easily be locked to ~1200 MHz.
