be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5 review

German manufacturer be quiet! released its newest cooling solutions: the Dark Rock Pro 5 and the Dark Rock Elite. The Dark Rock Pro 5 will succeed the Dark Rock Pro 4 and. Together, the Dark Rock Elite will be introduced as a new model in their product range. The Dark Rock Pro 5 and the Dark Rock Elite both feature updated aesthetics and are equipped with the latest Silent Wings fans. These fans come with an integrated speed adjustment capability, allowing users to toggle between 'quiet' and 'performance' operational modes. A distinguishing feature of the Dark Rock Pro 5 is its height-adjustable front fan, increasing its adaptability. On the other hand, the Dark Rock Elite integrates Arb LEDs and has a detachable top cover, streamlining the cooler installation. Additionally, the front fan of the Dark Rock Elite utilizes rails for its attachment, which augments its compatibility with various memory modules.

Building on the cooling effectiveness of the Dark Rock Pro 4, the Dark Rock Pro 5 incorporates enhancements in its seven heat pipes and dual Silent Wings PWM fans. This design facilitates a substantial cooling capability coupled with a virtually silent operation, making it suitable for intensely overclocked systems and high-demand workstations. The Dark Rock Pro 5's 120 mm front fan has a funnel-shaped outlet to facilitate optimal airflow. Moreover, its design allows for height adjustment, accommodating taller RAM modules. The 135 mm central fan is attached atop the cooler and both fans incorporate state-of-the-art fluid-dynamic bearings, six-pole motors, and fans optimized for maximum airflow.

Both the Dark Rock Pro 5 and the Dark Rock Elite have an integrated Speed Switch. This enables users to choose between a Quiet Mode with speeds of 1500 rpm (120 mm front fan) and 1300 rpm (135 mm middle fan) for standard applications. The Performance Mode maximizes the cooler's capability, elevating the front fan's speed to 2000 rpm and the middle fan's to 1700 rpm.
