The GT-AXE16000 uses the same open-source firmware, Asuswrt, as other Asus routers and has a similar web interface. It does not require users to use a cloud-based web portal, which is good for privacy. The interface allows access to many settings and features, which can be overwhelming for beginners but will be appreciated by experienced users. Additionally, the router allows for remote management, which is turned off by default.

The GT-AXE16000 offers a user-friendly interface for managing connected devices on the network. By clicking on the device icon, users can adjust settings such as parental controls, select wireless bands, filter by device type, and even delete devices from the network. The Network Map feature provides a basic, graphical tool for monitoring and managing a home network. While the router has a wide range of settings, it is not necessary to go through all of them as they are similar to those found on other routers. Additionally, as a gaming router, it is designed to optimize internet speeds and performance, making the online gaming experience smoother.
