Product Showcase
Components wise we only see quality really, solid capacitors, ferrite core chokes, quality components and nothing else. This is based on a design strategy, which ensures stability -- but also reliability and extended lifespan. All manufacturers apply these standards these days.
There is 4 x DIMM support with a maximum of 32 GB and support for four unbuffered DIMMs; 1.5 Volt 1066/1333/1600*/1866*/2200*(OC) DRAM, 32GB Max.
- Supports 1GB/ 2GB/ 4GB/ 8GB DRAM size
- Supports Dual channel mode
Overall board design is just great. Everything is positioned really well. If you look to the left side where we stumble into a bunch of SATA connectors, you'll see that this motherboard has three SATA controllers:
Intel Z68 chipset : *1
- 2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), red
- 4 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), gray
- Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
- Support Intel® Smart Response Technology on 2nd generation Intel® Core processor family
Marvell PCIe 9182 controller : *1
- 2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), red
JMicron JMB362 controller : *1
- 2 x eSATA 3Gb/s port(s), red
Just below the DIMM slots we see an array of interesting features. Starting next to the ATX motherboard power connector we spot a red micro-button, this is the GO/MemOK button, (if the system crashes, this will default the memory yet retain the overclock).
The four switches are PCIe x16 Lane Switches, part of the ROG Extreme OC kit, an easy way to shut off entire PCIe slots without having to remove any cards. We see power and reset buttons, an LN2 mode switch and all the way to the right a diagnostic POST/Status LED.
There's one more button I'd like to show you, all the way in the left corner we find a micro-switch, it actually allows you to select BIOS2.
