DX11: Far Cry 5 Game mode versus defaults
Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is the eleventh installment and the fifth main title in the Far Cry series. For those of us who want to fool around with the settings, there is a slew of options available. We test at the in-game Ultra quality settings.
For games, we will test in Game mode. You can argue whether or not that is fair, but Threadripper is complicated for gaming in its default setup. In the example below, you can see Far Cry 5 rendering at 720p, 1080p and 1440p. As you can see game mode adds a good 10% overall towards performance. In Game mode, however, you are looking at 6 cores enabled.
