looks cheap and dull , they could done better gone with an orange black theme some orange stripes and fans with some orange led would go nice with the gigabyte orange and black motherboards , the best thing about it is the big factory overclock out the box no need mess around overclock it yourself i like that, but it do not have the wow factor like say an msi lighting and if your spend £600 you want something special
Not everyone wants their computer glowing like a kiddy ricer car. Many people consider excessive lighting and fluff to look cheap and tacky, in most cases that includes myself.

but my point was this card is 980ti extreme , the gtx 980 extreme had some nice extra led lighting all over the card , but this card has a tiny led on it as if it was a entry model and saving costs , on an extreme model you would expect more bells and whistles on it as they did with 980 amp extreme, and the paint job on it is dull, no colour on it at all just black bit borING for an extreme caRD

Your point is not a very good one. Not everyone wants big flashing lights on their hardware, many people do not like it. There's nothing about the appearance of this card that is cheap, it's a solid well designed piece of equipment that performs extremely well. If I was buying a 980ti right now, I'd probably buy this.

no doubt the performance is quite rightly there but this thing is built like a freaking tank! too big and bulky for my taste but cannot deny the performance. seems like Zotac loves to go all out and usually BIG. but it also seems out of all the board partners, their cards tend to be a bit cheaper (price) than others.

The cards physical size doesn't change the fact the power draw is similar to every other 980ti out there. As for PSU's, no I wouldn't need to buy another one. I own more than what's listed in my specs. Sound is not an issue, when I'm gaming I'm wearing headphones.

Complete beast of a card truly insane. Also Hilbert for the 4k witcher 3 you posted the 1440p chart.

very nice review, but wow what an impressive PCB, more than matrix card from asus.
I honestly don't see how it could possible have a better PCB than the ASUS ones (980Ti STRIX) https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/STRIXGTX980TIDC3OC6GD5GAMING/ It looks kinda like the Gigabyte one and nothing more. ASUS's 12+2 Phase seems clearly superior and the way they made the PCB is also interesting (check out the link above). I'm just hoping its about as silent as the MSI one which was quite impressive with just 39dB (I think it was 39 !?). PS: I think that for regular people who are gonna use it on air it does not rly matter how overbuilt it is : )) ... probably not even for the watercooling people ... just the EXTREME ones with bellow zero cooling stuff ...

ok bro if u like that card go for it, im thinking about a 980ti but im gonna wait until we get the full line up and then make a choice like msi lighting and theres the asus strix which looks real nice ,hall of fame and evga kingpin ,,,,{etc}

If you go after the Lightning or the Kingpin you should really look into putting them under water. I'm also waiting on a HoF release by Galax, the last few have been pretty impressive.

i dont have extra budget for watercooling and i dont do any overclocking , and to be honest my pc is pretty much silent the most noisy component on my rig is the psu , the main thing i look for in a gpu is the noise level and that was main reason i got gtx 970 hof the fans are pure quality on the card its basically silent at idle and at full load wth max temp of 70, the only time the fans ramp up is if u push the overclocking button but i never use it the cards got big overclock out the box anyway

Very good review and another good AIB 980ti but i prefere the G1 or the gaming cause im going sli and the triple slot isn't a good thing for healthy air flow 🙂

ZOTAC is all about maximum clocks out of the box. I dont see them staying on top for long. HOF, Lightning should be safer bet. iChill is all about lowest temps. And Kingpin is coming with 1418MHz factory boost clock(!)

It'll probably have a healthy price compared to the other 980ti's, it'll definitely be a good card but I'd want to put it in a custom loop if I was going to get one. You're just not going to get the full benefit of the card otherwise, better off saving money and oc'ing a lesser model if sticking to air. The Zotac model is really well priced in the UK, in line with the G1 and 6G. So it's a coin toss depending on what you're looking for exactly. I like the cooler and design of the Zotac, and I'm unlikely to SLI in the future if I'm honest. ...I should really stop trying to talk myself into getting a 980ti.

I did some look up on the kingpin version, jeez, Absolute NASTY!!!. 3 power connectors, 2 8 pin connectors and 1 6 pin connector, jeezus. I wonder how this going to overclock, I read on the 980 kingpin version, not the ti one, kingpin broke the 2.1ghz record on the gpu core, good lord.

So.. I've personally tested all the cards as shown below. I'm keeping the Zotac Extreme 🙂 http://i.imgur.com/coft1nf.jpg In a nutshell, I am 1560 stable core on the Extreme. Possible due to my insanely high ASIC rating? Who knows. Either way, all great cards (minus the EVGAs) 🙂

+1. But some people like as if it was designed by four year old, just like the new Civic Type R 🙂 My only gripe with this card are the fins, that go across the card, and not parallel just like on other cards. So all the hot air stays in case.
