Soon we will need watercooling just for the ssd's

This proves how crucial cooling is 😎

Sequential write speed seems to be throttled similar to HDD speed, but random speeds are still 100x better than HDD. Kinda misleading headline 😕

I mean, I guess there is a reason why they offer a model that ships with a pre-installed cooler.

still waiting pci-e 4 to run fullspeed without cooling :V oh wait, that's about pcie 3

It's good and expected that the drive throttle its performance when it gets too hot, but if it's slowing down to HDD speeds then that to me very clearly suggests something is very inefficient with its design.
But hey at least it's not like Corsair where they just let the data get corrupted.

After lots of researching , reading and more reading for a long while it is obvious NVMEs pcie 5.0 are not ready for prime time. I was about to get onboard with a corsair MP700 pcie 5.0 nvme , but after doing my research and reading of the high end cooling requirement and firmware bugs i decided againts it and bought a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB. Let it mature longer , let's say 1-2 years , then maybe it will be a viable solution when more mature hardware and software makes it to retail , right now only Phison 26 is the only one option that makes pcie 5.0 controllers 😏.

Meanwhile SSDs....

My plan in moving to U.2/U.3 over time, i feel m.2 is simply too small for having enough storage and will be too hot to cool, while u.2/u.3 usually come with better heatsink that can be placed outside the motherboard where you can place a fan near them.
Hope in time manufactures on higher end consumer boards start including Oculink connectors to make this easier, instead of using adapters.

So, if I cool a HDD well enough, it will give the NVMe speeds? 😛
Undying
I dont mind active cooling on pcie5 nvme as long it keeps the advertised speed. I do mind the current pricing tho.
