It depends on the game, but if your only switching for a performance gain then i would just stick with W7. The OS feels "snappier" to use compared to 7, but i personally saw no real frames per second gain, i know BF4 did when it was first released but i don't know if that is still the case as i don't play the game.

I switched a few weeks ago from 7 to 8.1. I hated win 8 "metro" so naturally I was afraid to try 8.1. Boy am I glad I moved to 8.1, I simply think its the best Windows yet. Its definitely better than windows 7 which I used forever and I really liked. 8.1 is where its at 😉

When 8 first RTM'd I swore I would use Windows 7 forever if that was the way MS were keeping things - but a year later and a 3rd party start menu, and I permanently left Win 7, other than sorting other peoples machines out, I have never gone back to it 7 feels old to me now
