That's pretty big actually.
I'm still using WinRAR to this day, it's standard software i install.

Why install WinRAR when 7-zip exists?
It's much more powerful, it works with all WinRAR formats and more, it's open source, and it's free!

i just changed to 7z from WinRAR like 2 years ago, i still miss it sometimes, i have even paid for it. in my case i will use this future feature on W11 only if it have the options to silently extract to certain folder or in the same place, i won't follow a wizard just to extract a compressed file.

I don't understand what took them so long. This should've been done since the first release of Windows 7, or really even Vista.
I guess my main concern is if it'll receive the same inefficient and bloated treatment that so many other MS products get. I wouldn't be surprised if it still makes sense to install 3rd party tools for the sake of performance.
I also don't get why anyone would use WinRAR for all this time. Must've been at least a decade since I installed it, on any machine.

Took them years for this. And now it is or advertised as a awesome feature?
Ah, now I understand.
They sent the message or the news using Internet Explorer and reached today the news. 😛:D

Wow great itll be just as useless (but noob friendly) as Windows zip integration, where you must leave the archive folder open to cut copy paste.
Winrar is going nowhere.

7Zip has nice benchmark.

That's really good news.:)
Now, how about a virtual rom drive, to be the icing on the cake.
Hmm, what else?

Eer, its been so long since I last used one.
But you rip your game from the disc CD/DVD via rom drive and then mount the game to run virtually. Without the need to put the game disc into the rom drive to play..
@Passus
Ah, hay ho, no rom drive at the mo, I must hunt one down, probs one in the attic. 🙂

Windows will support already outdated compression formats that have been superseded by xz and zstd. Impressive :P
Microsoft sure is slow about these things, aren't they. Remember how long it took them to support FLAC audio?

Hold on Lads.
So I have just fitted a rom drive and I have ripped TR3 from the cd into a folder and it does not matter what I right click on nothing is coming up to mount the game virtually and nothing iso is showing either.
Hmmm. 🙁 😕
