No issues here, I even enabled that retopoline trick and got my boost back before spectre patch. So yay! πŸ˜›
Can you share these tricks with us ? I'm thinking about disabling all these spectre protections to gain my lost performance. Don't think AMD Ryzen is vulnerable to Meltdown so don't think that applies to me.

The vulnerability is a NULL pointer dereference in win32k!MNGetpItemFromIndex when NtUserMNDragOver() system call is called under specific circumstances. We strongly believe this vulnerability may only be exploitable on Windows 7 due to recent exploit mitigations added in newer versions of Windows. To date, we have only observed active exploitation against Windows 7 32-bit systems.
Yes. Null pointer dereferences that are exploitable on 32bit are often not on 64bit.

some of u might saying that micro$oft keep did "it" again but if we look at good-point is that at least microsoft "honest" enough publishing issues regarding their OS rather goes silent-way and people that got issue have no idea what causing their issue do u guys would rather they keep silent with issue happening on the OS, and just release the patch when ready ?

I Installed official KB, one earlier KB updated my spectre microcode to 0x25 (25h), was 0x24 (24h) before https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/microsoft-update-for-windows-10-1809-with-the-latest-intel-microcode-updates.425269/ and I "installed" these two reg commands via windows powershell (admin) On Client SKUs: reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" /v FeatureSettingsOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0x400 reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" /v FeatureSettingsOverrideMask /t REG_DWORD /d 0x400 Reboot https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Windows-Kernel-Internals/Mitigating-Spectre-variant-2-with-Retpoline-on-Windows/ba-p/295618 I copied each line in powershell and pressed enter, later rebooted Then checked with this command
$SaveExecutionPolicy = Get-ExecutionPolicy # Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Scope Currentuser Import-Module .\SpeculationControl.psd1 Get-SpeculationControlSettings Set-ExecutionPolicy $SaveExecutionPolicy -Scope Currentuser

did a quick google - is this what you're referring too? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4482887/windows-10-update-kb4482887
Yes with this KB. See above instructions. πŸ™‚ At first I didn't have that line at all, after I added those two registry values it showed up and got enabled.

Cool, how much of the performance have you gotten back from it - did you test before & after? I've done the same thing, but on my Skylake 6700K desktop - it's not compatible with retpoline, but it does enable Import Optimisation, which Microsoft says offers some gains. I've tested it, and CB15 is no change, 0.3% higher Physics score in Firestrike (yep, I tested it lots of times), and BF1 Amiens map went from 130's to 140's in one section of it (but hard to test in that game, just a loose observation).

Jesus fuckin Christ! Come on MICROSOFT. I was going to built a new RYZEN system and was hoping now WINDOWS 10 would be perfected.

Kinda funny how people jump all over Microsoft when something isn't working right, Like its easy to get windows working without problems on all the different configurations out there. I dont care how many people and resources they have some of you act likes it so simple.
Yup. I'm a software developer myself and know how difficult it can be to create the perfect code. It seems users always manage to find something that no developer or tester imagined was possible - and our software is only for internal users. I can only imagine how much harder it would be for software that hundreds of millions of people use around the world. Microsoft is also open about it and provides fixes for them in a timely manner. To all those who are complaining: I'd like to see you do better. πŸ˜›

If you haven't gotten the update yet...great. Mine installed earlier in the week. So I uninstalled the update...after reboot...My Windows 10 1809 was reverted all the way back to 17763.1 What a joke! I lost every update I have done since day 1
I just uninstalled the update and had no issues. Did it through the unintall feature, selected the update and all was fine after restart. 17763.316

People pay for an OS, they expect a certain level of stability and quality, not this. Doesn't imply that "those who are complaining" will have to see the actual code, add bug fixes and "do better" right? Can one remotely imagine that could be in any way, shape or form possible in Windows 10 case? Welcome to the dark, scum side of Free GNU/Linux side where you CAN actually DO better! Sorry, I just couldn't help it. πŸ˜›;)

Workaround Ignore the error. You got it M$!
Yep, that's basically just how Windows 10 works, evidenced greatly in Event Viewer. lol
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/56/56686.jpg
well i guess it good thing this isnt for 1803 yet and Retpoline dont work for skylake? MS is on roll build updates that get pull multiple times, CU that cause systems to not boot, now updates that kill performance, ( all though I sure the actual fix for flaws actual does drop performance and ms make it worse with how it implemented? ) And people likes to say the beta testing build are kept to the insider builds..
