MS is learning porn tactics. Soon we will have a pop-up explaining the benefits of Edge. Click X to close it and may ask you are you sure you want to leave?
I'll do you one better! a future where you need a popup blocker for the operating system itself.

The article headline is very misleading - but will draw clicks I suppose. Microsoft isn't "preventing" anyone from installing Chrome. They just have a pop-up asking for a reconsideration of Edge. I've had countless apps, sites, and unsubscribe links do the same thing. It's hardly a problem. If it wasn't a chance to gig Microsoft, nobody would say a word. This certainly isn't tech journo news.

Since I use Edge exclusively on my PC, this doesn't really bother me. But as others have pointed out, Chrome does the same thing and then some when it comes to invading your privacy. All in all though, Edge is likelier safer to use out of the box than Chrome, due to the Microsoft smartscreen and Windows Defender integration.

How many times I raged with fury because of the BadBill & his gang's dirty tricks. Don't forget the fact that the butterfly-looking guy (the one that is threatening to fly away from his armchair like a drone, during every interview) had founded his ''company'' on stealing/copycatting other people's inventions. Scumbags they were, scumbags they are and will be...

It still makes you wonder though, you can see how Microsoft is thinking and working with such 'experiments'.
Yet I do not see such outrage for the constant nagging and sub-par services we get from Google (which is an even greater monopoly on both online services and OS than MS ever was), when we use their monopolies without the blessed Chrome. And to avoid whataboutism, yes, it is a shitty thing from MS, even as an experiment.

On other hand Chrome is an open door to everything you don't want... (and banned from company because of that security point) Firefox is slow as hell... too much thing on it (ok it is better on new version but still slower than concurent) Despite being IE explorer's son Edge is faster and more secure (at least M$ doesn't lie on that) but what an awfull GUI !!! Reading this article i am happy to be on Linux for main usage 🙂
There are GPOs to manage Chrome Enterprise. Having said that, IE's security zones are superior for enterprise use. Though right now it's a kludge to manage Edge (via IE, via GPO). Microsoft's mindset here, experiment or not, is disturbing.

They only want you to use Edge so they can spy on you even more closely. They want dem stats of where you are shopping and what you are buying.

Also props to whoever cannot see that Chrome is becoming a shinier IE6. Idiots code around Chrome these days, not around web standards.

I would like to know how is faster: canvas performance: no. Javascript performance: no. Support of latest features for dev: no Developer tool on par with firefox and chrome: no. At some point some particular version was faster in some syntetic test: yes Did firefox and chrome catch up shortly after: yes. It has annotations on the page, ok a feature. And that terrible force empty tab on which they spam you msn gossip news.

Also chrome move fast from version to version and breaks something. Developer code workaround for it, but then is harder to remove. Is also true that most of the new web development can make good use of those features. Chrome introduce new standards and developers are ager to early adopt them. Is normal. At least are web standards and not random features.

MS says they removed it. It was an Insider experiment.
I use Firefox because its for people not profit (so they say) add Ublock Origin, Selection Context Search and Google Search Link Fix and I'm happy as can be.

Poor giant multinational megacorp picking on the other giant multinational megacorp. And Firefox has connections to Soros and all the other elite shitheads. Don't even use the internet if you don't want the globalists knowing every single thing you do.

You can, it is call Tor and a VPN, but there are other, more serious issues you need to work with first.

Pretty much always funny when people complain about so called globalists. Doubly funny when Soros is mentioned.

Reminds me of back in the day when IE wouldn't let me download Netscape past 99%. 😛

They thought they could go back to their former roots when they got sued by the EU for bundling IE and Media player.

Windows 10 is fucking garbage for gaming. It's not faster but for the very slightest bit. Almost no games even use DX12, and if your PC isn't a pile of crap you will have no problems with Win 7. And no Firefox still holds the lead. You are repeating information from ages ago and obviously have no clue what you are talking about. With the last release FF is on fire. Your idea that it is slow is ridiculous. They have been making performance improvements with every single release, and I doubt any normal person can even tell the difference anymore. Your idea that Win 10 is faster by quite a margin is a pipe dream. My PC boots to password in around 25 seconds. I have around 30 processes going on a very clean PC. No troubles with anything else, and Win 10 can suck it all the way to hell. The idea that Win 10 is this magical gaming machine is a crock of crap. A lie.
You don't speak for the benchmarks out there that others have done. Which isn't a lie. You are only speaking from your personal experience. I can say this Windows 7 sucks as far as memory management goes. I would have to reboot it every so often to rest the memory. Windows 10 on the other hand took ideas from Linux which has great memory management and implemented it.

^ I'll bet you were vouching for XP when Win 7 went mainstream.
