well most people already done upgrade anyway so it might not changed much..
hope ms stop their "sneaky pre-download upgrade" after the offer over
so i can rollback to win7 without needed to patch/block those auto-upgrade

Good.
Hopefully they will stop trying to force me to ****ing install Windows 10.
First warning, computer shutdowns automatically to install Windows 10 without any visible warning/question.
I disable the W10 update via the registry and delete the download.
Second, yesterday, I get the "Downloading Windows 10" message.
I don't want Windows 10, OK? I will download and install it when I WANT.

Hardly touched 10 in last 6 months. Dual booting it with 8 but mostly on 8. Have another PC with 8, not sure of upgrading it to 10.

Hated it when it was released, swore blind I'd never install it on here again, had to dual boot it for riftcat to work a few weeks ago, way better than RTM and was staying booted into it even not using riftcat and started noticing me not wanting to be in 8.1 any more because it was slower (older install, but definitely a noticeable difference) and looked aged vs 10
The XAML was what I disliked the most, but they have definitely improved the speed, the functionality still has a lot to be desired vs Win32, but I can live with it now, it was giving me an immediate headache originally
Was wondering how long I would last with it as my main OS again, but a few weeks in, I'm not seeing any reason to go back to 8.1 yet, which is good because clean installs are a PITA

Let's face it when the date comes MS will no doubt extend the free upgrade timer, they have tried every trick in the book to try and get the hold outs to actually upgrade, so it makes sense that they would start bating around a final day and when that day comes and that percentage of converts isn't quite as high as they think it should be watch as they 'generously' extend the free upgrade date by another six months.
Someone already said it it makes little sense to offer it for free for so long only to then turn round and charge for it, if folk weren't going to upgrade when it was free what on god's green Earth is going to make them upgrade when they have to pay for it?
As for why I haven't upgraded. Easy, my install of Win 8.1 is set up to do what I want, it has been since a day after I installed it nearly 18 months ago, I have disabled the services and features and tweaked it so it does what I want it to do and frankly I can't be bothered having all that reset, a whole bunch of MS spyware and useless rubbish like Cortina being installed that I will then have to spend a day hunting down tweaking, uninstalling and generally trying to get rid of and having seen how MS have treated the hold outs on Win 10 will no doubt get reactivated or reinstalled without warning with each new update.
Why install an OS that offers no obvious benefit to me and will require me to 'fix' to get it to work the way I already have my perfectly serviceable and set up OS working? That first pop up that appeared a month before Win 10 first launched should have had a sub option called f*ck off I don't want it. Once clicked MS got the message and that should have been that but no they have tried and tried using more and more skeevie methods to try and get Win 10 on peoples computers.

I need to find a way to convince my friends to "upgrade", but it's doubtful and probably not worth the effort.

I am one of the hermits who will never do so called "upgrade to Windows 10" on my machine. I did that on laptop that my wife is using in her shop, and she cursed me for it hehehe. Because it is sluggish and disjointed mess of an OS...

Upgrades still break a lot of things, clean install is always the way to go

With 2 little free programs you can forget about all the Win 10 bloat and it takes 2 minutes for me to have my Win 10 resemble Win 7 in every way and if there's a big MS update it takes 2 seconds to undo any changes the 2 programs made. Install MS updates and just re-apply those programs to enabled and it's good to go.
Never had any issues doing that, my event logs and Rel are totally clean apart from one or two warnings i get on each boot but that's about it.
I have no idea why some people are complaining about Win 10. For me it's no different from Win 7. Everything identical with very little work to do to get it that way and no added running processes or nothing that can't be undone with one click.
