Do they update drivers with OS updates? What you have to push in update to cause such a mess.

... and another windows update that breaks things to a level where it might brick your machine (at least until you find a workaround or can roll back). Seems to be the rule by now...

Is there ever a changelog available? not about cortana or timeboard updates but actual low level things they changed?

I just rolled back, geforce experience kept telling me to update to the same drive I had installed, games often failed to launch and skype for desktop could no longer use my mic!

the Mic not working is a feature(if you want to call it that),now you have to enable it in Microphone security settings if you want it to work.

How can something like this even happen, I mean surely SSD/HDD drives operate to certain standards and communicate with the rest of the PC in the same standard ways, so this seems strange to me that a Windows Update can cause this problem to happen. Also, what on earth would need to be changed in this Windows Update that would mean breaking compatibility with a specific drive, makes no sense.

They could at least post the SSD's they know for sure are affected, then update the list as they do further testing.
I have a system with 4 Intel SSD's in RAID0 running Windows 1803 and it's fine, but I just bought a brand new Intel 545s and was about to to put 1803 on it - I want to know if it is affected.

Not only intel SSDs, I'm having also issues with my system 2600k+samsung evo 950 m.2 through pcie. Basically it keeps telling me that I need to reboot to update, but when I do so the update sort of crash and the pc continues with the boot sequence.

- Windows 10: Driver may get removed after PC has been left idle for extended period of time.
It was GeForce Driver 397.31 bug. It was fixed in 397.55.

I have Intel 330 180GB as my main windows installation partition and no issues

Seems to not just be intel SSD's that are having issues, when I did the update I got the good old "invalid boot media" error on my Crucial M550, nothing I did managed to repair it either tried all the usual things I do to repair windows, nothing worked, couldn't even do a windows repair or repair the MBR or anything else on the drive, windows refused to even do a fresh install on it until I deleted all partitions and started fresh with the drive, after doing the fresh install the update went ahead, though when it did the first restart for the update it didn't boot into windows and I had to power the pc off and on again before it did, after that though I haven't gotten any more boot issues and everything seems to be fine now.
