Wasn't going to bother with X99 but as these 'new' cards are distinctly unimpressive .....
They should be faster than a Titan by at least 20%, were you seriously expecting something that was 50% or 100% faster? And they are new (without the inverted commas).

I think i will get another year out of my rig before i need to upgrade anything and then it will be a complete upgrade. Probably will pass too

Wake me up when there's a PC game (aka console port with lazy dev gpu effects sprinkled over to tout "Nvidia special features") that requires such a purchase.

U need to wake up only on The Witcher 3.

I got stung when I bought a £550 GTX 780 only for a full-cream GTX 780 Ti, a card more powerful than the original GTX Titan, to be released few short months later for the same price!!! Commonsense is telling me I should wait the next set of cards out and pick one up after 2-3 months just to be sure I'm getting the best value for money. Not that I have been disappointed by my GTX 780 but being the most expensive graphics card I've ever bought it's hard to not to feel a bit bitter about not waiting.

It's not so much that I was expecting a 50% performance leap as that these cards are distinctly unimpressive performance wise and will likely be very expensive. You are right, they are new and it wasn't my intention to indicate otherwise, just that for cards that are new, they aren't really delivering much more than what is on offer now. If they are $500.00 a card, then I will definitely be a little less skeptical.

Yeah dont rush.. If anything OC it a bit, so it boots ~ 1100 - 1150mhz with 13mv offset and max powerlimit. 🤓 I got my custom rather cheap, no tax 327€ on firm 🙂 and out of the box its like Titan performance or sometimes even a little faster, not bad imo ^^

Same thing happened to me.. Bought 2 780s then less than 3 weeks later the 780 TI came out. but luckly my 780 overclock extremely well so kinda made up for it

Tbh Darren going from 2x680's to a single 780 was a significant downgrade. I know you prefer single card setup and your at 1200p but still I wouldn't have done that but that's just me.

Meh...won't be upgrading any time soon. My 770 runs everything I play just fine and nothing on the horizon is going to need a 8xx series.

Well feel sorry for the suckers who spent £1100 on a Titan, only for the 780ti to come along at half the price.

I don't know tbh. I still got good performance on my rig. More of an itch than a necessity.
Id wait for the refresh, better performance, less teething troubles and probably slightly cheaper. By this time gm200 could be released also or near same time.

Waiting for 900 series then.

LOL at those saying its not worth it to upgrade their 700 series cards... no sh*t. It is hardly ever worth upgrading gpus every generation. But for those of us still rocking 580's.. it is time for an upgrade. I for one am excited for these. Obviously I would love to wait for the 880ti or whatever it will be called or even a pascal 980-1080 (whatever they end up being) but I can't wait that long unless I want to pass on playing some good looking games that are incoming in the next year. What I will have to consider is if it makes more sense to grab a couple of 780ti's or titan blacks if the prices drop enough when the 880s come as Pascal is really where my interest lies. I think the deciding factor will be the amount of VRAM. If the 880s come in an 8gb configuration then that is what I will get, if they are still only 6gb or less then I will really have to think about it. People keep talking about expensive cards.. remember Nvidia said these were going to be "cheaper" at launch than the previous cards.. here's to hoping "cheaper" means what it usually means =)

Funny...it has never really felt that way to me. I've never regretted ditching SLI. Sure, I lost the ability to use absolutely maxed out settings in a few games, namely SSAA, and my average framerates may have dropped in a handful of games that don't hit 60 FPS but that's just a minor thing compared with the mostly hassle-free gaming I've enjoyed from not owning SLI. CFX/SLI is clunky IMO, few games use it fully, fewer still absolutely require it, at least not at 1920x1200, and developers, even NVIDIA themselves, do not seem as fully committed to it as I would expect for a technology that has been around for years. At least I can say I've tried both but from now on I will be sticking with the most powerful single GPU card I can afford. I do not intend upgrading to a screen above 1920x1200 any time soon anyway and that resolution is the sweet spot for me, allowing me to generally max out most if not all of my games without me having to take out a second mortgage!

Sli is great for me. The vast majority of games I play really benefit from sli. When I was on 680 sli on 1080 it allowed me to turn up the eye candy that I would of never had with just 1 680. You play a lot of indie and obscure games so sli is probably not the best option for you.

With Nvidia constantly trying to "up their game"; this is why we current green team card owners cannot get newer improved drivers. I am quite sure that when a new product is about to be released, it's 'all hands on deck'! Assuming (for sake of argument), that this is the case, the solution would obviously be to hire some additional developers. And please, make sure they are highly qualified developers!
