When it comes to keeping important data safe, pinching pennies is never a good idea. I've been a tech for almost 20 years and have replaced hundreds of hard drives, and after seeing first hand the failure rates, I only use Western Digital drives in my personal computers.
And look how horrible the reviews are at Newegg. ManofGod

800GB platters? Ugh. WD, I am disappoint.
Corrupt^
I've had good and bad with so many brands that I'm starting to think the batches used in pre-built systems are worser then aftermarket parts.
From any brand tbh.

Hi guys.
Have a question.
If I change my Samsung F1 HD103UJ 1TB hard drive to this one
http://www.amazon.ca/Western-Digital-3-5-Inch-Desktop-WD2002FAEX/dp/B004CSIG1G/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1381524236&sr=8-4&keywords=wd+7200
will I get performance increase lets say in loading time in BF3 or BF4 or it will not be affected at all.
Thank you.

WD HDDs always fail so quickly, they are ****.

Had 2 seagate drives fail in the same week recently. They are under warranty but that does not help my data any. WD drives I have are still going strong

No WD failures for me in last 10 years, only one 20gb drive failed some 12 years ago.
Component return rates survey for 2012.
- Western 1.48% (against 1.63%)
- Samsung 1.65% (against 1.23%)
- Seagate 1.70% (against 1.89%)
- Hitachi 3.77% (against 3.95%)
Re fastest HDs I believe are the Seagate 1tb (DM003) and WD blue 1tb due to their high density single platters. Not sure if the 2tb blacks are dual single platters or not, if 3 (x666gb) they will be slower. Blacks are no longer the performance champs of old, they just have better warranty.

Ive never had a Maxtor or WD fail on me yet and i still have some maxtor low capacity drives going from 12 years ago. I had a 3TB Seagate fail on me within 3 months on owning it. I got it rma'd but i wont be buying Seagate again tbh. Ill stick with what i know regarding good experiences.
cowie
I did have a raptor go after 10 years, and seagates of old sucked and had two die after less then 3 years but the last seagate i got has been holding up for 3 years.
Dont matter i mostly kill my hd's by dropping them anyway

Seagate dont send new replacements. I got a certified repaired in this rig one in my boys C2Q rig and an external that I just opened an rma with.
edit they did send me a 2tb drive back to replace my 1.5tb so thats ok I guess. its certified repaired too. havent tried it out yet tho
