This was rendered in real time then? I also wonder how much GPU power was required for that and what the fps were? Just thinking about it in terms of how such impressive visuals could be transferred to games.

Looks like it was powered by a GTX 970 1080/30 or was it 1080/60 not sure.

unreal 4 can look so amazing when the right effort is put in

indeed. but you have to understand that this is a tiny 100 square meter patch of land created by a hobbyist probably on his free time, without any regards on performance etc. big studios working on massive open world games can't spend so much time obsessing over every tiny rock, because development costs would be... unreal. 🙂

The community behind Unreal Engine really is amazing, you've only got to look at some of the stuff coming out of the Epic/community Unreal Tournament project to see that. Epic seem to be very supportive and open about the engines development and are actively adding features and technology based on the wants and needs of the community. We should see some great looking games soon.

Looks amazing, and something we might see in next gen consoles. PC might get it assuming a dev actually bothers optimizing for PC as a priority. How many GPUs did that take though...?

One 970... But reality is we won't see this in another 5-10 years. Depending on the consoles cycles.

Obviously you will need octa SLI 980Ti to run it smooth like that in real time. Look at ARK with UE4. Crysis 1 like graphics with 6x less fps.

They're using a GTX 970.

It looks mindblowing, but one but, is it realtime? If not, that's not news, you can render almost anything since years ago...
