I can only imagine the price of those things... Good thing i already have a great screen.

The cool thing is, it's all about discussing resolution and screen size. Everybody knows what Gsync is for, but... HDR... nobody talks about HDR... 😀 (Don't get me wrong, I don't fancy it, looks too cartoonish 90% of the time, no reason for me to upgrade my monitor at all, just my personal taste though.)
It's not too exciting when there's not a lot of support for it. I'd be interested in a WQHD version if it had zero glow and improved blacks from the previous generation (XB270HU and etc.) and none of the quality control issues.

It's unfortunate that the only gpu's that can run 4k decently are 1080ti's and it's even more unfortunate that 1080ti isn't freesych compatible. If Nvidia adopted Freesynch, or just made their cards compatible with it while retaining their "superior" Gsync, everyone would run out and buy new monitors. Right now, buying freesync monitor is relegating your GPU choices to a pitiful offering. Gsync is really a backwards technology to push in an already backwards industry. I for one find it impossible to justify buying any proprietary output IO device.

I`ve just changed my pc`s Samsung 40" tv for an Acer B27HUL 27" 1440p, while its nice to have fine pixels at 1440p I do miss the big screen, but after having my offer of £110+pp accepted i think i got my monies worth, seller thought there was an issue with the screen but turns out its just the eco feature trying the save power, i had planned on getting an Aoc 32" 1440p but im hesitant as they seem to be targeted at Amd freesync users, anything above 32" is just too much money and 4k is ott for me, as for 4k on 27"......wouldnt take anything less than 32" if money was no object....maybe when i win the lottery. Playing Ets2 on 27" just isnt the same as on my 40".

People that say 27" is too small for 4k should go see an optician for new glasses. I've been using my 27" 4k screen for 2 years now, and having that high DPI is great.

Thanks but.. pass. You PAY for g-sync. For me I'm hard pressed to find someone that says.. OMG I have it on all the time!...they don't. After having a Asus with g-sync and a laptop.. yeah.. its just not WORTH the price.

I waited forever for a 1440p HDR display of some sort... and gave up, settling for a 1440p/144Hz 8 bit IPS. Seriously, what good is a 4K HDR high refresh rate display to anyone except hardcore eSports players? What's going to power that thing? Three GTX 3080 Tis from the future? What's the target audience for this that's large enough to make a product for? As a side note: It seems like creating enough contrast to display an HDR image is more reliant on how deep the blacks are; Unless I'm mixed up, you sure as hell can't reasonably display anything bright enough to cause the necessary contrast against a (standard cheapo) LCD's bad blacks. Even 300 nits is enough to blind the crap out of you, 1000 nits is a disintegration beam.

We can probably safely assume these are going to be at least $1k. Moving along, I paid $1200 for my 55' HDR tv. Having seen hdr and used it, I can't imagine going back. Luckily most every day stuff I do I can do on my pc monitor but when its game time and the game supports hdr it goes on my tv. There is a lot of crap going on with hdr though, especially movie services, but lets not forget that there are multiple variants of hdr either. My tv does dolby vision and from my own experience dolby vision looks easily 2x better compared to its hdr10 counter part, I have done exact comparisons to each other Warcraft movie was good for this. So I hope these new monitors support Dolby Vision, or the waiting game for me will continue (as for that kind of money) because it better support the latest and greatest
Haha. No. 2500 Euros. https://www.gigantti.fi/product/tietokoneet/naytot/ACPREDX27/acer-predator-x27-27-4k-uhd-pelinaytto

I agree completely with this. Proprietary stuff is the cancer of PC gaming.

Outrageous price! You'd expect an OLED panel for such a high cost. And some are saying the local dimming zones only work with HDR which is disappointing. Also, I'm glad I decided not to wait for the ultrawide variant since it's probably going to be around $2000.00. For these prices I expect perfection and we all know these panels are not going to be perfect, far from it.

If the local dimming only works with HDR.. upsetting.

If you have a G-Sync screen, why in the world would you not have G-Sync on all the time? I certainly do.

While I thoroughly agree, it should perhaps be noted that only G-Sync is proprietary. The monitor isn't and can be used with any GPU....

Anyway. Is there some list showing that added value nV promised to give to those 1st gen G-Sync monitors?

Cool story bro. Just... stupid. Yeah you pay for gsync because NV puts an extra price tag on it. What screen did you have, and with what hardware were you driving it? I smell you didn't even set it up correctly if you did turn it off... never heard of that except for trying out ULMB. And up until recently (I think) you couldn't even just "turn it off" on the fly, might be wrong here though.

There are multiple standards for it. Only the top end standards require significant improvements to black levels.

I don't know about laptops but with a desktop you've been able to turn G-Sync off and on at will for years.

I mean if you were going to spend $2500 on a monitor wouldn't you want the monitor to be relevant into the future? Like if I buy this thing, i'm planning on keeping it for 6-8 years.. I'm going to be happy when every time I get a new graphics card I unlock like 40 more games I can play at 4K 144hz. Not to mention the back catalog of games that would be fine now.

I'd love to have a 27in 4k Gsync HDR monitor but there's not a single card that can do that kind of frame output unfortunately.. Will need another 2 generations to play current gen titles with 144fps

For you maybe. I just bought my second G-Sync screen and would buy them again in a heartbeat. And yes, GSync is active all the time. When it first launched, GSync wasn't active on the desktop and would only activate when launching a fullscreen app. Nvidia fixed this later and can now be active all the time and with windowed apps.
