Looks lovely. But I wonder if controller is in base PCB or in memory device itself and therefore there are naked PCIe lanes.

I imagine, like previous memory cards, there would be an external [PCIe-based] controller.

since when microSD change size?
Who said it did? Granted, I do realize that I made a mistake saying it was smaller than microSD, which it isn't.
for now i doubt this going to be big, to me its look not much different than SD-cards, probably only faster but like other said "real" nvme/ssd that have their own controller and dedicated(slc)-cache, how this can be better ?
You can't do NVMe for SD cards (at least, it wasn't built to take advantage of it). There are plenty of applications that demand high-speed memory. In particular, high-speed cameras, high-quality 4K cameras, and professional photographers. Having so much performance and capacity in such a tiny package will be a major interest to professionals, who might need to swap out storage more often or want redundancy.

The PS5 and XB2 are going to love this tech, awesome stuff!
