No wonder. Most of my job is reinstalling windows 8 to windows 7, 'cause users can't stand windows 8.

You may be right to a certain degree but the truth is that most people are computer illiterate and when you take away their XP/7 machine and put an 8 system in front of them they will be lost like Alice in Wonderland (more of a nightmare then wonderland) It's just a pity that Toshiba gives corporate users 7 and normal users 8. I just ordered a Toshiba laptop for a friend who does not know much about computers. The thing is great when it comes to hardware.Really surprised by the quality and components for such a low price. But in the first boot I found out that the touchpad was not working. So I tried to turn it on with the function key and that didn't help. It took me about 15 minutes to get the thing working. It looked like somebody made sure it does not work. Was it guys in Toshiba that forgot it's not a touchscreen? As it turns out it might be the case since I went shopping and got into PC world at the weekend and there were 3 toshiba laptops. Two without touchscreen had their touchpads turned off in the same way and the last one was touchscreen so was fine.I was cheeky enough to tell the salesguys the laptops don't work. Think they are still trying to make it work HAHA Anyway am guessing that even the guys in Toshiba aren't used to the 8 yet and need some learning to do 🙂

The majority of casual users/work employees simply don't like change. It is based on personal opinion, and I know there are many enthusiasts who will argue that win 7 is better than win 8 with valid points of course. However for those casual users, the valid points are quite moot. People simply need to get with the times and realise that Microsoft have pulled a nasty move on the world by trying to force us over to win8. Especially if they begin removing win 7 support. And the funny thing is, is that most of them dislike win 8 purely on the fact that there is no start button and no one wants to adapt to the metro tiles.

99% of business users don't have bf4 beta in the office.

Most of the tiles in Windows 8 can be replaced by shortcuts that users really wish to use, if they put in a little effort. It's not difficult to do either.

A lot of user want just what they were used before but cleaner, faster, more polished. With microsoft not always you can get it. You miss one release, then the second, then windows 9 is better than 7, hardware is 3 time faster for that day, and in your new pc it looks even faster than windows 7, but probably it isn't.

My company also just put new win7 computers they probably figured it would be a waste of time to have people farting around with win8.

If you buy a new laptop with touchscreen, I dont really see a reason to install Win7 (if your IT department allows you to use Win8)... It just works so well. Wihtout touchscreen then... Meh, dont know, tough call really.

Even without touch screen it works really well, especially for laptops.

99,99% of the work laptop are without touchscreen and most normal one too, and if you use a tablet... then you use iOs or Android that are far more advanced for this use and need less resource. maybe that's can explain the main dislike of (not so) modern UI (remember AOL kids 🙂 in 1996?)... hopefully 8.1 will certainly make everyone happy.

I think companies without the IT Infrastructure are sticking with Windows 7 and those with the Infrastructure and shifting to Windows 8... Also 8.1 is supposed to make it easier to integrate in to enterprises by having customised start screens and so on.

Not the same thing. Delta is providing their employees with windows 8 phones and other mobile devices... which we know 8 is suited for. Companies with heavy IT infrastructure (desktops mostly) have little reason to waste time and money going from 7 to 8.

I have been using Surface Pro for few months and really love this thing. I'm going to buy Surface2 Pro (or whatever it will be called) when it comes out, this current one is owned by the company I work for. But because they let me use this at home, I have had no reason to buy one myself. Going from this thing to iPad or some Android stuff... No way. Just no way. I love this thing. Work mate has Lenovo Yoga (W8 ultrabook with touchscreen) and he likes (liked) if before he had to send it to repairs because the keyboard was bad... But you can not blame W8 for that.

At work, I sell Fujitsu business machines. All of them meanwhile come with a Win 8 *license*, but the ones with Win 8 actually installed vanished after a month and were replaced by models with Win 7 downgrades installed. I guess it's safe to say that 99% of our customers still use Win 7 as well. Heck, we *still* have regular requests for XP, since customers still use software that just won't run on anything newer. Me, I have Win 8 on my laptop, though with Start 8 and Modern Mix installed. I am happy with it that way, but wouldn't want it on my main desktop machine. That one is Win 7 and will stay that way.

No surprise. Who knows what next they'll do to Windows 8 with 8.2(?) or even 9 if there is no 8.2. Better to stick with the tried and tested Windows 7. Business customers surely want to get **** done and not buy cute little apps from their wannabe store. I like Windows 8.1 but going out of my way to make it work exactly like 7 feels silly and I'd rather stick with it. Direct X 11.2 be damned.

There some features that I like about W8 and the improved boot time, however at least for now there isnt too much to switch me over to W8. Probably when Broadwell comes out, Ill upgrade my system and switch to W 8.1. I agree though it didnt take much time for myself to figure out W8 UI. A few shortcuts and key shortcuts are actually easily accessible. Like the first time during its alpha and beta builds.

And laptops with touchscreens SHOULD stay with W8-8.1. I like W8 with touchscreens as its very snappy and modern.

Its sad, because Windows 8 is actually pretty nice. Just install start button and boot straight to desktop and you never see the metroapp ****. Plus the faster boot times, clean interface and the native ISO mounting is pretty nice. Not sure if there's extra performance over Windows 7, except maybe in BF4.

HOLD UP........ People still buy from Toshiba? :3eyes:
