My clients always ask for Windows 7, some of them still ask for XP and like 1% of them ask for Windows 8 and not even 1% of them ask for Vista (which I take the time to convince them that's a bad idea).
Most enthusiasm I know tried Windows 8 but only a small portion of them didn't switch back to 7.
And no, it's not because people hate change just to hate change, change can be very welcome if things are 100% better than before but can be hated if it's counter-productive and counter-intuitive 🙂
If I sell a computer with Windows 8, I have to warn them about how Windows 8 is different because otherwise there's very high chance the client will come back either pissed of or asking for a refund (which I can't do for any Windows) or a downgrade to 7.
We have to sell Laptops with Windows 7 pre-installed (Lenovo does that) now because of that, the risk of bad consumer satisfaction due to Windows 8 is huge and it's bad to my business.
