Japanese surely love mixing names.
Kioxia’s Mission Uplifting the world with “memory” — By evolving “memory”, we create uplifting experiences and change the world. Kioxia’s Vision With progressive memory technology at the core, we offer products, services and systems that create choice and define the future.
This also sound very Japanese.

Unless there were specific legal reasons, Toshiba sounded much better to me as a Brand name.

On first sight I thought it would sound Chinese, but with the source of the "x" in there being Greek, it's pronounced differently. After all it's just a name... not like they'd do anything different to if they'd have the name Toshiba still.

sounds like the typical "i-need-to-justify-my-job" big companies come up with. when i worked at autozone, we had a "captain's list" for the tasks of every day, but never enough ppl in the store...
