cant get my head around these cards needing 3x 8pin PCIE connectors though? Did they really need the extra juice for their factory OC variants? I mean generally speaking a factory OC is normally around the 100-200MHz range and 90% of the AIB versions all use the same power connectors as reference with some using more but thats generally cards geared towards OC pros using LN2. Its seems these cards have either tons of headroom but need more power, or they simply hit a wall at a certain power point and in order to get the smallest overclock they need a lot more power hence the third 8 pin.
very happy with present MSI Gaming X Trio 2080 Ti. New 3090 is a little smaller, haha

375 W is already high enough.
it just means its (peak) power consumption is somewhere between 375W (ie. 2x8 pin) and 525W. this could mean 376W as well. 525W is the theoretical maximum, not the actual one
Look at the new Torx Fan 4.0. Looks completely traditional (for nowadays standards) and the design looks just like a mix from the Cooler Master (and Arctic) designs and latest Asus cards, but instead of the complete ring around the blades, just each two blades...
Does this means that all that weird Torx Fan 1, 2.0 and 3.0 with the cirved fan and the fan with guides aren't better than anything, that they're just marketing, not aerodynamics breakthroughs? Wouldn't surprise me at all.
I'm interested to see how well these custom cards measure up with the new reference cooler design that actually looks pretty good on the 3080 and 3090. Will the custom cards still cool better or will the reference designs keep up this go around. I personally like my EVGA RTX 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra Hybrid card with the AIO cooler on it but it was pricey, but I'm too lazy to do custom cooling.... Not sure if EVGA will be giving the 3080 the same treatment. Not to mention the FTW3 cards are normally overclocked. I'll play the waiting game a bit to see how the custom cards line up. In the meantime my 2080Ti card runs everything very well on my UW 38" 3840x1600 monitor unless its a ray tracing game, then of course I can turn off the RT if it sucks. Control with max preset and high RT settings along with the Max res DLSS runs at like high 50's to mid 70's FPS so that is where I wouldn't mind having the new cards now. I'll have to give my 2080Ti to my son though as no way I will try and sell a $1500 card after seeing the speeds and prices of the new cards. I would be lucky to get $500 for it.
closed backplatge = no buy, our current ones awful heat traps and the worst heat source in a pc case, go-through airflow or nothing
850watts is the bare minimum PSU I personnally switched to a 1200Watts because I was often running way too close to 850
recommended PSU are just like memory XMP profiles, valid only for a nearly empty computer with a NON overclocked CPU, as soon as you oc your cpu all best are off

What kind of rig are you running that needs above 850watts? Dual GPU's?
I actually prefer the cheaper, strange how that seems to be the case more nowadays. I prefer the old design of the gaming X in red and black
