I'd worry about getting a hdd or ssd setup that can transfer that fast, otherwise its pointless.

Pretty much yeah. Atm this gear is only interesting for businesses imo to eliminate bottlenecks.

Pretty much only reason you'd buy this as a consumer indeed, multiple devices accessing the same one, creating a bottleneck. But then again, wouldn't your switch have to be 10 Gbit too?

Ideally. But if you just want to connect more devices with one switch and not have a dip in bandwidth when all the ports are in use at the same time a 10gbit switch can still be a good option even with gigabit nics.
