I don't know about you, but during the still images, I often liked the GOTY edition better

Either they foked up with the logos or they made the fire/embers way worse on the next-gen 😀

I think they have them backwards really.

A lot of the things lightning looks overblown in the next-gen if anything and I was actually expecting something nicer.

Well I personally think, from that youtube video (and it's compression!), I'll have to take my own look. But what little I've seen, I'm not impressed... effects and lighting does look a notch better, but I have the impression that it doesn't add much, and on the other hand, foilage and embers look a lot worse than they did before.

I didn't realize that next gen just meant make it darker 😀 I think along with the people above, the GOTY edition was far better!

Darker usually happens because the game's not really made with what they did with the lightning in mind. If you do RT lightning correct, you have to have it from day 1 or it ends up being dark a lot of times. At least that's my subjective impression of games getting "better lighting" along the way.

Aside of the RT lighting, it for the most part just looks alot lower res. I'd wager that if you run everything at same res, it will look alot more similar, aside of lighting.

I think the witcher 3 is an awesome game and all it needs is some extra high res texture and a way for the engine to do 60fps on a ps5 and xbox, without compromises on details. is a 7 year old game i would expect it to run 60fps on an xbox series X

Older PC version looks far better. Such update may be an improvement on console but a downgrade on PC.

I am a bit confused, it does look like screen space ray tracing in shaders, like what you could do with Reshade.

I`m not a big fan of W3 but i have to give my regards to CDR for continuing to support old games like this, it`s very cool from them.

Even on consoles rn it looks better texture wise. The low res textures with RT doesn't look good at all. Tho I think it's in performance mode not quality. Anyway quite a bit to do i feel

It's the same thing that happens in cyberpunk with RT enabled - textures lose all definition. No RT https://i.imgur.com/G03l6aE.jpg RT https://i.imgur.com/R0GQPUh.jpg That said, you can see on everything else on the picture you posted (especially the front NPC) that the render res of the RT shot is AT LEAST 4 times lower than the non-rt shot... probably even lower than that.

But I have seen modded versions of W3 which look many times better, they should rather focus on working on a new game or Witcher 4 or something. And what about this nonsense of 4K at 30fps again? I know the PC version will not be limited, but come on 30fps is so 2016 PS4 PRO thing... it's just a re-master, right?

52 fps with an RTX 4090? Are you running at 8K or something? Or without DLSS 3? I can't remember that Cyberpunk 2077 was that demanding back in early 2021 when I played it with my rtx 3080

I think CDPR is still not working very well the color gradient on this game, the same thing on the GOTY. I had a personalized Reshade preset for this game that made a better color correction for the greens and blues, reducing a little bit of the red channel. The white point and black point as been increased, thats why it looks darker sometimes and wither others. Wither 3 is difficult to add HDR, you will have a lots of levels too dark after that, or you will be using a lot of Cat Potion after that, primarily in caves. Lets see the final result.

Not impressed. To make one replay such a large game you better come with something more than this.

Likely one of the included "mods" 😉
