@HybOj Definitely less of an issue compared to any combustion engine, even if i count the fact that the cars arent emissions free (they need to be made/still use power thats not coming from 100% renewable sources), but efficiency is much better than anything that burns something.

I kinda like the design. It grows on you. But I could imagine window cleaning to be pain in the ass.

That's not a "truck" it's an suv. And it fugly! GM is going to kill them with their electric truck.

HybOj:

I was waiting for a new power source to the cars my whole life. Really. Even as a kid, I was fascinated by the possibility, that the car exhaust will not be needed, or it will exhale just a water vapor or clean air. The electric cars are nothing new, and it was always on the table, and it was always put out of the table, because of common science and common sense. Than came the POLITICIANS. Skipped the free market principles and DICTATED a electric cars upon us. What a let down... :X I hope this MADNESS ends sooner than it will harm the civilization and the planet more.
What common sense? This has absolutely nothing to do with politics. This is coming about because of "free market principles." People are buying them because they want them and because they work very well.

I love everything about this except the design. The specs are solid: range, power, speed, pricing competitive with other trucks. That design hurts my eyes though, it's like a vehicle of the future ripped from a mid-tier scifi movie circa late 1980's.

The specs suck. If it doesn't have an 8' bed it's worthless. You have to be able to carry a standard 4x8 sheet in the bed with the tailgate closed, if you can't it's not a truck. 😱

Seems like it'd sell well in Australia. This is very ute-like. For those of you who don't know what a ute is: https://hips.hearstapps.com/roa.h-cdn.co/assets/14/51/1280x719/gallery_1418848276-screen_shot_2014-12-17_at_31836_pm_1.png
Denial:

So how do the crumple zones work in a indestructible car? Do the passengers inside just get organ damage every time it's in an accident? lol
It's like buying a Volvo from the 90s - the thing you crashed into is the crumple zone lol. Considering the already shocking weight of the Model S, I'm guessing this thing is going to be substantially heavier, so unless you do a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler, a full cement truck, or an actual military tank, chances are, this thing is going to juggernaut itself into whatever it hits. Of course, this is assuming the on-board collision detection system doesn't attempt to minimize the damage first.

I wish they would bring those to the States. The Mexicans would go crazy for it. I like it too but it would be to the Latinos what the Dodge Magnum was for mid 20-30 black males were back in the late 2000’s.

Same - I think there's a market for them. A lot of people in the US buy crossovers because they want a lot of cargo room but they don't want a big and tall vehicle. Utes seem to fit that bill fairly well. Pretty much the closest things we got to utes were the Chevy El Camino, Chevy SSR, and (depending on your definition of ute) Subaru Brat. And now apparently this new Tesla truck. GM owns Holden so nothing is stopping them from taking Holden ute designs and bringing them to North America.

Did anyone here saw the truck and thought: Black Mirror?

A real reaction from a family which assisted at the launch: husband: "This has to be a joke. Please let this be a joke!" wife (from Texas, pickup in her blood): "It’s so ugly" 12 years old son: "It’s SO COOL!"

[youtube=LMWwImDX3ks] That made me chuckle.

The next IS combat truck ? 🙄 Toyota is so yesternews...

design wise its ugly i am guessing its not easy to shape the exoskeleton-design speaking exoskeleton is that "cool-name" for unibody ? anyway when accident happen, this truck will likely crush other standard-truck... if they not lying about the truck alloy can stop bullet
