You'd think the RGB lights would allow it to surpass the SATA3 limit and reach 700MB/s in read and write.

The extra cable for the RGB isn't really that elegant IMO, they need to find a way of powering the lights from the SSD itself and control the lighting through the sata connection, RAM manufacturers already worked out how to do this with the ram slots so I don't see why they can't figure this out, the less cables the better.

That's completely different. Saying "it worked for this interface so it should work for another interface" completely misses the mark. It doesn't work like that. From my (admittedly somewhat limited) knowledge of how the two interfaces work, and how they work together with the OS, I can easily imagine SATA being a lot harder to use to control lights.
