Kirk will install his log into anything with a pulse, that's why. He's a troubled, conflicted, classically Shakespearian 'tragic' character. Shakespeare understood love better than any other writer in history. He knew that love can make your heart jump for joy, and also make you commit murder when hurt. It can manipulate Kings, Queens and destroy nations and entire civilisations. Kirk is the very definition of this archetype and the new films come very close to encapsulating this.

And you saw all of that out of that single short trailer that looked like the typical sfx based action movie? 😀 But yeah, the arche type character behind Kirk can be interpreted pretty decently. But the question is, do the movie, the script, the director, and the actor allow for such a work of art?

Depends on which 'universe' you're talking about. In the classic movies and series, yes he had. With the new movies, not that I was aware of (yet).
