Based on the trailer this is like a 100% action movie. But it's okay if it turns out to be a good action movie. If the days of the old style Star Trek are over, then let's have what we can have.

Not sure if a fast and the furious director is quite right for star trek... lol. Might be a surprise though, hope so.

Oh my! Movies seem to follow that algorithm, explosions, people flying through the air into objects, hanging off cliffs with one hand while incorporating motorcross bike jump sequences in the way future. They just killed Star Trek, I did enjoy the last two movies even though they had the same corp algo. Just not so extreme man. :3eyes::infinity::3eyes:

Yes, looks like it's going to be pretty much sold by special effects.
And, as a trekkie of old, it just gave me the impression it will be even more absurd than wickedly easy time travel and red matter black hole creation 😀

I'll just quote Kirk from the trailer, "What the hell is this?".

So original Trek movie saga, had Khan appear in the second movie and the Enterprise destroyed in the third one. I sure am looking forward to the reboot that's going to have new story lines, new characters and not going to borrow any of the old movies story lines I mean it sure would be dis-appointing if Khan appear in the second reboot movie and the Enterprise somehow gets destroyed in the third movie....
As for the ID trailer.... no just no!

That's the exact same feeling I got too about the trailer. It only contains action scenes, and to be honest, I have no idea what that movie's central plot could be 😀

Yeah, I wasn't sure what was supposed to be happening and right down to the music the whole thing had a silly feel to it.
I had forgotten Simon Pegg helped to write it as well.
I've pretty much hated every trailer for the big 2016 movies, the only exception was Captain America Civil War.

First movie: Get attention, establish characters and franchise.
Second movie: See if the franchise can be dark and brooding.
Third film: Drop budget, hire comedic writer and action director for cheap and cheerful action comedy, making sure that at least you will get the nerd crowd to watch it with an option to bow out at films end (EIGHT years after first film launched) and relaunch a teevee show...
Basically, job done an they will be making $ off the tv show for another five seasons minimum with spin off movies potentially in the future, depending if they want to compete with STAR WARS or not.
The only reason the original films ('79 onwards) were made (and partially TNG) is because Star Wars did not have any movie made/remade until late Phantom Menace.
If Star Wars had new films every two years and a teevee show during the same period, then Paramount would not have given the green light for Star Trek TNG or any films during the 80's and 90's.
You need to remember, TNG was launched in 1987, when people were still going to the flicks to watch The Voyage Home.
Now Star Wars is back...it's not looking good for anything else out there.
The torch has been passed back, ironically by the same director...
