Whoops indeed, wonder if there's a way to downgrade while the fix is being made I can up/downgrade the firmware on my telly using USB and button combos at boot

Ive got the 55W809C, and had no problems with it. Mind you, i don't have it connected to the internet, only use it to watch my FreesatHD :P

Oh the Irony! I'm currently without a TV because the continual glitching finally destroyed the motherboard (one of its components). I have a xbr55810C and received this update back in early December. Simply, it made all the normal little glitches of the android TV unusable. Called in a Tech and he couldnt fix it. So now I sit waiting for resolution....its a shame. It was a good TV

Old TV's don't be sad, maybe you are dumb as a brick, but at least you work.

Sad to hear.. But good thing is, that older models get update. Bad thing is, for a stability cost. BTW. This half-opened Android's is not best option anyway. Most Android TV boxes can do much more..

I haven't received the update yet for my EU KDL43W755C. Probably a good thing too by the looks of it.

#1 reason why I will never buy a "smart" device. Roku/AppleTV FTW!!!

So you don't own a smart phone then no? I bet you do.

Whoops? Several owners of Sony Bravia smart TVs ran into a rather nasty issue, their TV got bricked after Android updated. Affected TVs can sometimes no longer be turned on or become unresponsive... Sony Bravia smart TVs Bricked After Android Lollipop Update
they need to bring back the TV and drop this "smart" crap

I dont and probably wont any time soon. anything that has become "smart" has slowly became about what else it can do other then do it base function.

This is true, smartphones are now mini computers that can also make calls But that's fine to me, I like having a little computer with me all the time, and it comes in handy that I can call people now and then lol

Smart devices offer numerous ways to connect to different devices, as well as more choice in how you watch your favorite moves or sport. For example I use my phone to Chromecast to my TV to watch football and YouTube. I don't even need a sky box anymore because I could just stream Sky or something like that directly to my tv from my phone.

with advatance you device can be bricked alot easier when it has one those "OS" on it. 🙂

True. Smart TV's have a long way to go before they offer a hassle free viewing experience. Android has been implemented for very long (2015?) so it's going to have problems.

MS windows has been around for decades and it still has tons problems. guess we should be lucky the smart tv's dont use MS OS?!

Is this an auto update or user controlled?
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/94/94450.jpg
Mines auto updated at some point when I wasn't using it but I'm fairly certain there was a menu option to turn it off

Auto pushed by Sony. You can turn off auto updates though.

That is why my 930D has the auto update feature turned off Just in case when they make the update available here. The end user has all the ability in the world to control this.
