wuhu. it would be a fu... awesome to play resident evil, battlefield or metro 2033. rotten & burned meat, gasoline, burned rubber and toxic gas. new difficulty mode invented: easy - medium - hard- insane - do not vomit to be honest. i sure would buy it, if it would make his job and could bring me, while gaming to my limits and my limits are rly high, caused by my job 😀

Well said.. I wonder how those and other smells will be sampled.. Based on real samples? lol!! P.S: Now I can finally smell all that matcho odor of Duke's piss.. Damn, I'm a sicko. 😀

what a horrible idea. all i want is to smell the burning flesh and decay that is constantly around the FPS/TPS shooter games i play. plus i bet the cordite smell kit would need to be replaced constantly. And just to throw out a stupid annoying comment, do we really needs the video games to be more realistic than they already are?:bang:

It's Smell-O-Vision all over again. As long as they keep it on the more pleasant side of the scent spectrum... Grass/hay, flowers, and the ocean I'm okay with, and even the fleeting smell of gun powder after firing off a few rounds would be pretty cool, but when I'm engulfed in an invisible cloud of sewer gas because I happened to open one of the out-houses in Borderlands 2...that's where I draw the line. 🙂 Realistically though the technology needs to evolve more before it's released. Like Brasky said, we're going to have to buy refill cartridges, so there's that, and then like 3D there will more than likely be those who can't use the tech, only in this case because they're sensitive or allergic to the laboratory-made chemicals used to produce the scents. tl;dr - Cool, albeit unnecessary tech. Still needs work after 50 years but it's making progress (30,000 smells vs a couple dozen). Kind of wish they'd work on those haptic vests instead. 🙂 Still, very cool.

Interesting name, had a game with something like this a few years back (Larry 7) though it used a scratch card of sorts. It could work, depending on what smells they use and the game genre I guess. (If nothing else it's another immersion improvement for the porn industry.) (Granted even if that happens the smell of "rotting meat" and "burnt rubber" as used by examples in the earlier posts in this thread might still be there.)

This concept is older than dirt, there were at least two before this maybe farther back than a decade ago. By that I mean PC peripheral devices filled with liquids that would combine to make various smells. Too many flaws, imagine if some malicious program hijacked it... Either way if it ever becomes cheap enough I'd like to see a version released where you just plug it in your nose so no one else has to smell and so it can get the effect done with minimal resource usage.

I think this kind of thing should come after we get immersed into the gaming world visually. When gaming, I still feel like I'm sitting at my computer desk pretty much, when I can put on some goggles onto my face and actually "see" the game only as if I was in there. Well then I'd say this could be a very good idea!

Cant remember how I heard about that game, anyways, was not worth the time. Lula3D, heard from a friend, and saw that one, afiak it was horribly bad, did not play. EDIT: Seems that Illusion Soft has made some other stuff similar to Sexy Beach according to some names on that game list. :P
