Good advancement, but I don't see myself needing DDR4 in my gaming PC for at least two more years. ...However, I am curious about its' price on the open market; performance of RAM has never meant that much, it's always been more important to have enough - rather than have it fast.

If you can't imagine needing it in your PC then check the article again and you'll find that this tech will be in mobiles by the end of the year 🙂 I see nothing wrong in advancing. Hope that there will be proper speed increase with it.Starting saving for Haswell-E platform..:)

A 35% power savings and initially 50% more bandwidth than DDR3 is pretty substantial. And speeds will only increase in time, pushing bandwidth higher. And once Haswell-E and Skylake are ready, both platforms will have quad-channel DDR4, another big boost.

Guess I'll be updating my gfx card in 2014 and in 2015 (when DDR4 and the CPU's and MOBO's that come with it are more mainstream) the rest.
