CP2077 RT results are not terrible.
Next matchup that matters is FSR3 vs DLSS3. Will be interesting.
All top end cards have enough raster atm. Who cares.
7000 series really improved raytracing performance. Being up there with 3090ti is no joke. If we count in fsr3.0 in the future it will be even faster and viable for rt even at 4k.
It's starting to become apparent that AMD's goal of trying to make these cards efficient, shaves off about 10-15% of performance. Kind of similar to the 6900xt. Once you move the power limit up and raise the clocks, it seems this card can get really close to the 4090 in raster, and really out pace the 4080. You can really see the potential from Techpowerup's OC review on one of their 7900's. I wouldn't mind having Asrock's 7900XTX Aqua, but I have no need to upgrade from my 6900xt... Only place it sucks is at DXR, but I barely use it in my daily gaming. Next gen will be my jump into a new full build.

problem is, power draw is already +30% compared to 4080 on stock settings, for this version it's +45%, more than 4090.
Vega 2022 edition.
Very nice GPU. Looks so well made. Power draw is an issue especially as the one area where the 4080 made big strides is driving power use down and I have to admit that it was surprising to see the 7900XTX using more power especially during gaming. I am sure you can push these but it looks like the power budget goes right out of the window..

Yeah, that power consumption is crap, especially when you consider how it's just a small bump up from stock settings.
Gets me to wonder though:
The stock XTX could probably see a significant drop in wattage if you were to undervolt it just a little bit. Seems to me the chip is just barely being pushed too hard.

well they promised to beat 4080. no one said in efficiency. +10% over 4080 comes at +50% power.
TSMC claims that N4 improves power usage over N5, but doesn't state by how much.
TSMCâs 5nm (N5) Fin Field-Effect Transistor (FinFET) technology successfully entered volume production in the second quarter of 2020 and experienced a strong ramp in the second half of 2020.
TSMCâs N5 technology is TSMCâs second available EUV process technology, to enable our customersâ innovations for both smartphone and HPC applications. As the foundry industryâs most advanced solution with the best performance, power and area (PPA), N5 technology provides about 20% faster speed than N7 technology or about 40% power reduction. N5 technology further expands our customer product portfolio and increases our addressable markets.
In addition, TSMC plans to launch 4nm (N4) technology, an enhanced version of N5 technology. N4 provides further enhancement in performance, power and density for the next wave of N5 products. The development of N4 technology is on schedule with good progress, and volume production is expected to start in 2022.
I noticed how CPU limited the 5950X is. In TPU's review with the 13900K, we see way more performance coming out of the RX 7900 series, especially in RT.
I want Hilbert to upgrade his test bench to 7950X or the X3D variant soon.

Simply adding a 5800x3d instead 5950x would be an enough of an upgrade. I bet Hilbert have one in his lab. đ
Remind me of Vega64
