Undying:

Simply adding a 5800x3d instead 5950x would be an enough of an upgrade. I bet Hilbert have one in his lab. 🙂
Yes, lets see a CPU scaling review including 4KRT with 7900 XTX please! With the right CPU even the RASTER performance can top the 4090 RTX.

It seems that on some tests labels are XT, instead XTX, I saw it for sure on RT+FSR section.

Not bad. Power consumption is not that bad for OC version, my 4090 would take up to 445w during playing Cyberpunk before I power limited it at 85%. 3D cache/7950 XTX Nitro could be interesting in the future..

Poor OC results. Did You UV the card?

look at peak values, 475w o_O

It seems that in this generation of gpus it is not worth spending more for non-reference models.

I think I'll wait on the Toxic and see what that brings to the table.

So it seems that amd purposefully avoided housefire mode with the reference card, even though it was an option. I can respect that.

I would like to see how well these undervolt.

There is no excuse, AMD should have done better. But I'm sure you know that nvidia is on 4nm right?
Which part of la la land are you in?

Oh man, the Sapphire card looks good....to me anyway, but I guess I'd have to content myself with the MERC 310 I have. At the very least, it has a vapor chamber like the Nitro+ Vapor-X and seems to be a decent OC'er according to results of OC'ing comparisons of the Asus TUF, Sapphire Nitro+ Vapor-X and the XFX MERC 310 done by TPU.

Very nice card and performance. All sold out in my country for XT and XTX even ~$1750 pricing, difference is far far beyond the review sites expected retail pricing here for a 4080 starting from $2399 some going up to $2999 and all in stock luckily, we'd need a serious $400 or more price reduction here I'd say to have proper competition in sales lol. Ppl just skip this gen all together and look at previous gen bargains now, so many good deals.

just testing out my rx7900xt on crysis 3 at 4k and only getting 63fps because i was getting a bottle neck first time i ever had one at this res gpu is at 59% anyone else getting this try 8k got 100% and 27fps

After seeing this review this is the model I'd like to go with assuming once a teardown is available it ends up being good as expected. But I don't even know if local stores are taking back orders, the first batches of everything were bought by scalpers who are just relentless, and I'm not even sure if this model was ever in stores. It's not even listed at my local shops.

yeah crysis 3 really needs an 8/16 at least.

I don't know, you tell me. 🙂 But seriously. What do you mean? I believe all of them (AMD, Nvidia and Intel) should have done better in some way (price, availability etc.). There's always something to be improved.

I noticed how CPU limited the 5950X is. In TPU's review with the 13900K, we see way more performance coming out of the RX 7900 series, especially in RT. I want Hilbert to upgrade his test bench to 7950X or the X3D variant soon.
definitely throttling the gpu but that said....even a 7950x or 13900k are bottlenecks for 7900 and 4090s a 13900k paired with a 4090 is worse (100% cpu limited) than a 3090 on a 9900k (99% cpu limited) the 7900xtx being very good in rasterization is probably worse the bottleneck reversed 180° in 2-3 years, cpus got better sure but nowhere near the power creep of gpus, cpus are more like an utility part nowadays EDIT : and if you check on my wall below you'll see tomb raider went from around 45% gpu bound with the 3090 but is now 0% gpu bound on the 4090, we reached the limits of the game graphically

I spent all night benchmarking the 4090 and despite it having a thermal paste problem (100°C hotspot 😡) for me who did hundreds of benchs this year it's obvious how much cpu throttled the 4090 is compared to the 3090 which was already ridiculously powerful and no wonder when you see the numbers they almost doubled in every test but DX11/cpu limited games just to give you an idea BORDERLANDS 3 1080p DX12 BADASS BENCHMARKS : 2020.08.31 AMD 3960x NVIDIA 1080ti : 85.69fps 2020.09.22 INTEL 9900k NVIDIA 1080ti : 90.76fps 2021.05.02 INTEL 9900k NVIDIA 3090 : 165.01fps 2022.04.05 INTEL 12900k NVIDIA 3090 : 170.51fps 2022.12.01 INTEL 13900k NVIDIA 3090 : 179.54fps 2022.12.16 INTEL 13900k NVIDIA 4090 : 274.68fps this game is heavily gpu limited even in 1080p but it makes it a good gpu vs gpu comparison the jump between a 3090 and a 4090 in that scenario is bigger than the one between a 1080ti to a 3090..except it happened in 1 generation
