The phone idustry is becoming stagnant, something that happens with every industry, so from now all releases are going to be underwhelming and more of the same. They have reached a point when they can no longer release a new phone with a much bigger screen or with a much better SOC because it´s simply not possible! And all the features they can put in a phone are already there. The phone/tablet industry is now starting to face the same problems as the PC industry, the good enough products and the fact that they can no longer increase the performance by 100 or 200% like before. That´s why nowadays every high end phone release seems boring, they can´t do much better... P.S. Personally i would be more than happy with a new version of the Sony Xperia Ray, but i now that´s not going to happen...
This. Well said

I personally like the style and specs of the Xperia series as well but they're simply not available unless I want to buy them outright at full price ($700-$800). The rumoured specs of the S5 were crazy: - 1440p IPS screen This ended up being 1080p with is perfectly fine, 1440p on 5 inches is insanity. The problem is it ended up being the worst type it could be, Super AMOLED, not plus, which is Pentile or similar gibberish. Makes for a very unsharp picture compared to any regular sub-pixel pattern. That and the smallest of cracks on the screen causes the entire thing to die within hours since it is organic. I've experienced this first hand. - 3GB RAM This one was not so much crazy as it was unexpected since phones can make due with 2GB I wasn't expecting Samdung to go over that. And I was right. - Snapdragon 805 This isn't even due for release until later in the year so we knew Sammy were going to cheap out in this department and have a good excuse. Snapdragon 801 now? Whatever, it's basically a slightly OC'd SD 800. - An appearance which isn't cheap plastic crap I actually had some hopes here with all the rumours circulating about an aluminum bodied version. Oh well.

Well said. The bastards should do do something like improve batteries making them more efficient and longer lasting...

A couple months ago I got my new Galaxy s4 because it was no money down for two year contract. And you know what! Glad I did because I don't see much difference from my s4 vs this s5. Also with my s4 I like the tad smaller screen; 5in is really pushing the size of a phone for my personal taste.

The reason it has to have a better screen and a better cpu is because people won't upgrade unless it does. Why would you change your current phone for a phone that is the same thing you have now. No one that is smart enough will upgrade. Its called a upgrade for a reason not a same grade. The highend phone is always around $600. In the US not sure about over seas. Now the screen doesn't have to be bigger but it should be better.
Well the screen needs to stay at 5" without getting bigger, something to make the screen better we are agreed. Faster processor is fine, but more energy efficient. Slower processor is fine, but more cores meaning more energy efficient on the battery. An upgrade for me is a new design, this isn't a new design, it still looks the same as an S3. It's the one thing they could have changed but haven't. All they've done is given us a bigger phone with a faster processor. They need to do something innovative like HTC done with the HTC One, the metal body.
not only that but this time the 0.1" added to the screen costs 6mm plus 3mm taller and wider body than the S4, and not sure how much thicker, they said it was for water proofing, well at least there is 4k recording now, lol
Well I guess the water and dust resistance is a nice touch, but the overclock is damn right silly haha.
