I have a Verizon Fios, which channel displays in 4K? none. Also Netflix and Amazon Prime how many movies or series are displayed in 4K? very few.
No one even remotely specified cable/etc. for 4K content, considering cable/satellite/etc. barely do 1080p, with 1080i as its standard, no one should be surprised 4K on there isn't a thing yet, and when it is, it'll likely be highly, highly compressed. That doesn't mean some TV shows aren't filmed and eventually released in 4K, breaking bad for instance. As to amazon/netflix, yes, there's tons of content on there for 4K, most everything i watch are in 4K these days. Same goes for blu-ray 4K, most everything i watch on disc, is on blu-ray 4K. Realistically, unless you're strictly looking at cable and etc., then most things that are new releases have 4K versions of them you can watch.

sat/cable is already highly compressed, that standard still seem to be 720p/1080i in rare cases and when really is 1080p, it dont come close to actual 1080p quality, I think 720p/1080p on netflix in 99% cases looks worlds better then 720p/1080p sat/cable claim

Is anyone even filming movies in 8K yet?
I assumed they film in super high resolution then scale it down to 4K? Don't tell me some shitty companies actually record in 4K?
AlinC:

4k with 4000 nits for me pls 🙂
300 nits is enough to blind you. I don't know if there's some new level of super blind where you blind yourself so hard that you're blinded in an alternate reality, but that's what you seem to be going for by wanting 4K nits.

@tsunami231 yeah, i can too, and so can all customers (20-70ish) i showed 55/65in tvs at up to 18ft distance. @Neo Cyrus depends on company and equipment used. +90% are shooting (video) 4K, but you can always upscale, like it was done in the past (with lower res stuff). higher res content is usually from using stills and make (time laps) video out of it.

I dont think this will make any difference in picture quality. We barely have any content in 4k. And price will most likely be crazy high.
It's OK, the push towards 8K is what will make 4K more mainstream (mainstream for me is when games start hitting 120/144 fps more consistently at a given resolution).

I've been saying it from beginning about 4k being the stepping stone to 8k like 720 was to 1080. This has been planned before there was any news of 4k tv's coming out. There's already higher resolutions for future.
Valken:

I am looking forward to 8K for many reasons: 720p/1080p transition... it happened and I predict this may so long as prices are relatively reasonable
I believe the 720p/1080p transition is more similar now to a transition from 1440p to 2160p, rather than 4K to 8K. This time, TVs didn't even bother with 1440p, they went straight to 4K. I skipped 1440p as well, just recently upgraded from a 1080p 27" monitor to 4K 32" and loving it.
