You are right, but that's probably a business decision founded on mere financial interests, not wanting to invest too much into it. Investing own money into fixing own OS; or making a deal with some company to build AVS for the crappy OS, where the cost is reduced (no in house development needed) and you can market it as if it's an improvement, while maybe even getting a little financial gain out of it. This is what I think a company would do.

Not sure if there are any financial interests. More like simply a backdoor for NSA and CIA.
